Greetings and blessings,

I thank you very much for the sixth volume of the Talmudic Encyclopedia (authored by Rav Zevin; see letter no. 3215 on this subject), which I received these days through Rav Hutner. May Hashem grant that you see perpetual advancement in this work.

In a pleasant vein, a teaching can be drawn from an indication — namely, the transition from Dalet to Hei (the Encyclopedia is arranged in alphabetical order). This transition is achieved through Tzedakah*, spiritual and material, revealing the unity of Hashem down to the lowest point of the material world, as Tractate Shabbos 104a states: "Gimmel, Dalet, Hei, Vav — Gomel Dalim (bestows kindness upon the poor, whose initials are Gimmel and Dalet), and the Name of Hashem (of which Hei and Vav are two of the four letters)."

Consult also the Taamei HaMitzvos* in the Likkutei Torah of the Arizal*, on Parshas Re'eh, and you will find a lengthy explanation on this subject in the Chassidic discourse of 13 Shevat* 5710 (1950), by my father-in-law, the Rebbe.

And the Talmud, at the same reference, specifies what the reward is: "Zayin, Ches — if you act thus, the Holy One, blessed be He, will nourish you (Zan, whose initial is Zayin)..." up to the Tav, corresponding to truth, which is the seal of Hashem.

I am enclosing what has recently been published. Without a doubt, this will be of interest to you.
