Igrot Kodesh · Letter 336 — Institutional Coordination: Funding and Publications in Eretz Yisrael

To the learned Chassid*, Hashem-fearing and devoted to communal needs, Rav M. G. A.[1],

I greet you and bless you,

I am replying to your letter of Tuesday of Parshat Mishpatim*:

A) That letter was the first I had received from you since your return to the Holy Land*.

B) I thank you for having sent me the articles by Dov Zeira*. You say you also sent me some two years ago, but they have most likely gone astray. If you give me his address, I will write to him. However, if you think it preferable that the reply reach him through you, I will address it to you directly. I defer to your judgment in this matter.

C) I ask you once more to insist that Rav M. Axelrod*[2] send me as soon as possible the Tanya* commentary[3] of Rav Ch. G.*[4].

D) I wrote to Rav M. that the Chicago Yeshivot* committee has granted you a subsidy[5]. It is a pity that you did not send us the information we had asked you for concerning the Yeshiva* and the Talmud Torah*[6]. Indeed, several institutions in the Holy Land* received considerably larger amounts.

Perhaps there is still time to ask Rav Franck* to intercede on your behalf. It is also said that Rav Orenstein* of the Kollel* has influence with Rav Zaks* of Chicago, who is one of the leaders of that committee.

The distribution of funds for the Talmud Torah* institutions will likely be carried out by a committee that will convene in the Holy Land*. You will seek support there.

E) Enclosed you will find the Moreh Shiyur* that has just been published[7].

במענה על מכתבו מג' משפטים

א) הנ"ל הוא מכתב הראשון שהגיעני ממנו מיום חזרתו לאה"ק...

ג) ת"ח בעד שלחו המאמרים של דב זעירא, מה שכותב ששלח לי ג"כ לפני שנתיים כנראה נאבד בדרך, ואם יודיעני הכתובת שלו אכתוב להנ"ל (אם לפ"ד טוב שיהי' המענה ע"י כב' אשלח על ידו ועל החלטתו אשען בזה).

ד) בבקשה עוד הפעם לזרז את הר"מ אקסלרוד בשילוח ביאור התניא לרש"ג.

ה) כבר כתבתי במכתבי להר"מ ע"ד מה שקצבו בשבילם מועד הישיבות

בטשיקאגא, וחבל שלא נתקבלו הידיעות שבקשנו מאתם ע"ד הישיבה ות"ת, כי לכמה מוסדות באה"ק קבעו סכומים גדולים הרבה יותר, ואולי כדאי שינסו גם עתה שישתדל בעדם הרב פראנק (י"א אשר הרב אורינשטיין מהכולל יש לו השפעה על הרב זאקס מטשיקאגא שהוא מראשי ועד הנ"ל) חלוקת הכספים בשביל הת"ת תהי' כנראה ע"י ועד שנמצא באה"ק גופא. ובודאי יחפשו הכירות שם.
