Igrot Kodesh · Letter 3353 — Tzedakah

You all agree to acknowledge that you need encouragement. You ask to be cajoled and implored. In this way, perhaps you will render to the masters of Chassidus* and, through their intermediary, to the Holy One, blessed be He, and to the Heavenly hosts, the service of beginning to reflect on how to spread the wellsprings* outward, given the time you have available and can devote to this objective.

Then you will meditate deeply upon this and convene a meeting to discuss it. At that point, you will have fully discharged your obligation. Reread, then, your letter, as well as your report for the period from the 22nd of Kislev* to the 21st of Teves* — which is, as you yourselves write in your letter, the most propitious time of the year for action — and then ask yourselves what has been concretely accomplished, while our righteous Moshiach* "stands behind our wall" and our holy masters bestow blessing and success, provided that one makes the most modest effort.

Yet instead of taking advantage of the success, you seek various pretexts, foreign to the truth, in order not to assume so important a mission. It seems to me that I have already described the current situation to you, as explained in Iggeres HaKodesh*, chapter 24: "When He wished to reveal Himself to all..." Consult that text.

May Hashem grant that a profound change occur in all that has been said, for long days and good years,

... מסכימים כולם לדיעה אחת, שכל אחד מהם מוכרח דוקא להתעוררות, און מען זאל עם פיעשטשין גלעטין און איינבעטען, וכולי האי ואולי - יעשה טובה צו די רביים, ועל ידם לקוב"ה ופמליא דילי', ויתחיל להתבונן איך להפיץ המעיינות חוצה, וכמה זמנו מרשה לו, להיות פנוי ולהקדישו לתכלית זו, ואח"כ יבא העיון שלהם ודיון באסיפה הבאה, ובמילא מלא הוא חובתו ככל הדרוש, וכשיקראו עוה"פ את המכתב שלהם הנ"ל והדו"ח בעד התקופה כ"ב כסלו - כ"א טבת - שכפי כתיבתם במכתבם זה, שזוהי תקופה מסוגלה לפעולות יותר משאר תקופות השנה, ואח"כ יתבוננו מה שפעלו... בה בשעה אשר משיח צדקנו עומד אחר כתלנו, והנשיאים הק' משפיעים ויוצקים הצלחה בכל השתדלות קלה מן הקלה, ותחת לנצל ההצלחה מחפשים כל מיני אמתלא (וכפירוש התיבה אמת-לא) ובלבד שלא למלאות תפקיד הנפשי (וכמדומה שכבר כתבתי, המצב בזמננו זה), הוא ע"ד המובא באגרת הקדש סי' כ"ד וכשעלה רצונו להתגלות לכל וכו' עיי"ש...

ויה"ר שבפועל יהי' שינוי בתכלית מהאמור לעיל, ויהי זה לאורך ימים ושנים.
