To the distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem

and devotes himself to communal needs,

Rav Chaim Noach, who is called Dr. Denburg,

Greetings and blessings,

I received with pleasure your letter of the 29th of Shevat* and, subsequently, a copy of your book on the final chapters of the Shulchan Aruch*, which you are translating into the language of the country, with its commentaries.

In every era, and especially in this orphaned generation, many are those who, to our sorrow and grief, "say to their father and mother, 'I have not seen you,'" and turn their backs on the Tradition, because their parents "guard Your word and observe Your covenant."

May Hashem therefore grant, in accordance with what must be the role of a Rav*, that you succeed in instilling a spirit of fear of Hashem, in daily life, in all the members of your community. This spirit will express itself in concrete action — not merely through figures of speech, but also in the feelings of the heart.

And you will proceed from the end of your book toward its beginning — that is, from the laws of mourning*, bringing the dead to life through the words of the living Elokim*, toward the laws of visiting the sick and healing, until all adopt the way of life of people who are in good physical and moral health, because they put into practice the principle: "I have placed Hashem before me at all times," in accordance with the beginning of the Tur* and Shulchan Aruch, Orach Chaim*.

No doubt you are not content with what is printed, but you seek every means and every way of acting in this direction — through a warm word, without compromise, without limiting yourself to half, a third, or a quarter, but following the path of life that has been traced for us by our Torah, Torah of life.

בנועם קבלתי מכתבו מכ"ט שבט ואח"כ גם טופס מספרו על שו"ע יו"ד בסימנים האחרונים בו מתרגם השו"ע וקיצור מנ"כ בשפת המדינה. ויה"ר מהשי"ת אשר מתאים לתפקידו של רב בכל הדורות ובפרט בדורנו יתום זה, אשר כמה מבני הדור הנה לדאבוננו ולצערנו אומר לאביו ולאמו (ולהמסורת שלהם) לא ראיתיו מפני כי שמרו (האב והאם) אמרתך ובריתך ינצורו.

יצליח להחדיר רוח יראת שמים בחיי היום יומים של בני ובנות קהלתו, יראת שמים המתבטאת במעשה בפועל ולא רק במליצה יפה ע"ד רגשות הלב וכיו"ב,

וילך מסיפא לרישא אשר מהלכות אבילות על מתים ר"ל יחי' אותם בדברי אלקים חיים, להלכות בקור חולים ורפואה וכו', עד שיבואו לאורח חיים של אנשים בריאים בגשמיות וברוחניות, שהוא ע"י שויתי ה' לנגדי תמיד (טושו"ע או"ח בתחלתו).

בטח אינו מסתפק בדברים הנדפסים, אלא מחפש כל האופנים והדרכים לפעול בכיוון הנ"ל, ע"י מלה חי' - בלי פשרות ואופנים למחצה לשליש ולרביע, כ"א בדרך חיים הסלולה בשבילנו ע"י תורתנו תו"ח.
