To the distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem
and devotes himself to communal needs,
Rav Moshe HaKohen (Rav M. Shayevitch; see Letter #2773),

I greet you and bless you,

For a very long time, I had not received any letter from you. I was therefore pleased to have at least news of you and your family through the distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem and devotes himself to communal needs, Rav Yosef Flyer.

I also learned that you participated in the Chassidic farbrengen* on the day of the Hilulah* of my father-in-law, the Rebbe, leader of Israel (10 Shevat). You know (see Letter #3249) that a soul, on the day of its Hilulah*, ascends from the lofty level at which it finds itself to another that is even higher. Our Sages say that they (the Sages in Gan Eden*) know no rest, ascending from one level to the next.

Now, all those who are bound to him follow him in his ascent. Nevertheless, they must forge the vessels for this, strive to reveal it in their thoughts, their words, their actions — and especially in the last, which are essential, as it is said: "Today, to fulfill them."

Moreover, we will soon live "the years during which one will say..." (that one did not fully accomplish what should have been done during the time of exile) — the era of Moshiach* — as explained, in particular, in Tractate Shabbos* 151b and Rashi's* commentary; the Rambam*, Laws of Teshuvah*, Chapter 8, paragraph 9, and the end of the Laws of Kings; the Avodas HaKodesh, Volume 2, Chapter 38; and Iggeres HaKodesh*, at the end of Chapter 26. This point will not be elaborated here.

May Hashem grant that you announce good tidings of all this to me.

It is entirely evident that all of this applies to each and every one of the Chassidim* who have the ability to act. In our era in particular, this constitutes a personal obligation.

זה זמן רב שלא נתקבלו ממנו כל מכתבים, ולכן שמחתי עכ"פ לקבל ידיעה מהנעשה אתו ואת ביתו ע"י הוו"ח אי"א נו"נ עוסק בצ"צ מוה"ר יוסף שי' פלייער, וכן מהשתתפותו בהתועדות דיום ההילולא של כ"ק מו"ח נשיא ישראל, וכבר ידוע אשר ביום ההילולא הנה נשמת בעל ההילולא עולה מעולם עליון לעולם עוד עליון יותר, וכדרז"ל אין להם מנוחה כי ילכו מחיל אל חיל, שבמילא כל השייכים אליו נמשכים ג"כ בעלי' זו, אלא שעליהם לעשות את הכלים להעלי', ולהשתדל שתהי' בגילוי במחשבה דבור ומעשה, והעיקר במעשה - כי זהו העיקר, היום לעשותם. ובפרט שממשמשים ובאים שנים אשר תאמר כו' אלו ימות המשיח (שבת קנא, ב. עיי"ש בפרש"י, ברמב"ם הל' תשובה פ"ח ט' וסוף הל' מלכים. עבודת הקדש ח"ב פל"ח, אגה"ק סו"ס כ"ו ועוד, ואכ"מ).

והשי"ת יזכהו לבשר טוב בכל הנ"ל.

ומובן ופשוט שכל הדברים האלה הוא בנוגע לכל אחד ואחת-מאנ"ש שיש בידו לעשות, כי בדורנו זה ביחוד - זהו חובת גברא.
