I greet you and bless you,

I have just received your letter with its contents. When I went today — on the eve of Rosh Chodesh* of the month in which one increases joy (Adar) — to the holy resting place of my father-in-law, the Rebbe, whose merit protects us, I also mentioned the names on your lists. May Hashem grant that all be blessed in all their needs, material and spiritual.

You speak of a proper Mikveh*, and it is surely unnecessary to explain to you how important this is. Every necessary effort in this regard is therefore justified. And I have good hope that you will act with eagerness and enthusiasm, and that you will do so at the soonest (literally, "a moment earlier"). It would be good to write once more, on this subject, to Rav Deutsch of Cleveland (see Letters #2992 and #3189). You should emphasize to him again the necessity of reducing expenses.

You speak of the kindergarten and say that, in your opinion, one cannot yet see how an elementary Yeshivah* will result from it. Nevertheless, who knows? One must do everything possible, and it is said that "Avraham was one." Yet it is also affirmed that "his descendants will inherit all the land."

Consequently, I am not pleased to learn that you fear remaining in the place where you have been for some time already, because of the problem posed by your children (presumably their education). In practical terms, it is inevitable that this fear weakens the enthusiasm you bring to fulfilling your sacred mission in your city.

Even if this fear were justified, even if it were clear that you must leave this city, you know the saying of my father-in-law, the Rebbe (see Letter #3067), that they built the Sanctuary in the most complete and precise manner, even at the stages where they stayed only one day and one night. This can be established from the end of Chapter 25 of the Tanya*, which emphasizes that "this unification (accomplished through Torah study), Above, is eternal and immutable."

One must, in particular, strengthen one's trust in Hashem. In this way, very soon, the situation will be able to evolve positively. You will have the merit and the success of building a good and holy education in your city.

I was pleased to read, at the end of your letter, that your brother-in-law's business is developing, and that he now observes the blessing you received. It is surely unnecessary to remind you of the need to draw his attention to the following: when one observes the blessings of Hashem satisfying all needs, one must understand the allusion and strengthen the channels and vessels through which they are obtained — namely, Torah* and Mitzvos*. You should also consult Iggeres HaKodesh* of the Alter Rebbe*, at the paragraph beginning "I have felt my smallness."

זה עתה נתקבל מכתבו עם המוסגר בו וכשהייתי על הציון הק' של כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע, היום ער"ח מרבין בשמחה, הזכרתי את כל אלו הכתובים ברשימתו, ויה"ר מהשי"ת שיתברך כאו"א מהם בהמצטרך לו בגו"ר.

מ"ש בדבר המקוה כשרה, הנה גודל הענין מובן שאין צריך אריכות וכל השתדלות הנצרכה בזה כדאית היא, ובמילא תקותי חזקה שיעשה בזה במרץ ובזריזות ויפה שעה אחת קודם, וכדאי שיבוא עוה"פ בכתובים עם הרב דייטש שי' מקליוולאנד, ויעוררו עוה"פ למצוא אופן שיהיו ההוצאות קטנות יותר...

מ"ש אודות הגן ילדים, שלדעתו עדיין אין ניכר סימן שיוכל להתפתח מזה ישיבה קטנה, הנה אין אתנו יודע עד מה, ומוכרחים לעשות ככל האפשרי והרי כבר נאמר אחד הי' אברהם וירש זרעו את כל הארץ. ועל פי זה אין דעתי נוחה ממ"ש שכבר עתה חוששים הם לשבת במקומם עתה זמן ארוך מפני שאלת ילידיהם שי', כי חשש זה בהווה אי אפשר שלא יחליש המרץ בעבודת הקדש המוטלת עליו במחנו הט', ואפילו אם הי' חשש מוצדק ואפילו אם הי' ברור שיעתיקו דירתם מעיר זו, כבר ידוע פתגם כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר, אשר הקמת המשכן הי' בכל הפרטים והדיוקים אפילו באותם התחנות והמסעות שלא היו שם אלא יום ולילה (והוא מובן ופשוט עפ[מ]"ש בתניא סוף פרק כ"ה, ויחוד זה למעלה הוא נצחי, עיי"ש), ובפרט שצריכים להיות חזק במדת הבטחון, ובמילא הרי אפשר שבעתיד הקרוב ישתנה המצב לטוב, ויזכה ויצליח לבנות את החינוך הכשר והקדוש במחנו הט'.

נהניתי לקרות בסיום מכתבו אשר התפתח העסק של גיסו שי' ומוצא עכשיו הברכה אשר נתברכו, ובודאי למותר לעוררו שעליו למשוך את שימת לבבם שכשרואים ברכות השי"ת בהמצטרך, צריכים להבין הרמז להוסיף גם בצנורות והכלים לזה הם עניני תורה ומצות, ועיין ג"כ ד"ה קטנתי באגרת הקדש לרבנו הזקן.
