To the learned Chassid* who fears Hashem,

Rav D.(1),

I greet and bless you,

I am responding to your letter of 2 Shevat. The letter for my father-in-law, the Rebbe* Shlita, that was enclosed was transmitted to him, as I do not wish to take responsibility myself in such matters.

A) I ask you once again to carry out the printing and shipment of the books as quickly as possible.

B) Shipments can also be made to the address of Machaneh Yisrael* or the Kehot* publishing house. For now we have received only five crates of Tanya*, some of which had blank or missing pages.

C) You will reproduce the edition of Torah Or* printed in Vilna in 5659(2), and that of Likkutei Torah* printed in Vilna in 5664(3), which you possess, as you write. You will verify that the addenda are indeed at the end of Torah Or, as well as the table of corrections at the end of Likkutei Torah*.

I will send you the text of the title pages and introductions when you confirm to me that printing has begun.

The same applies to the Piskei Dinim*. At the end of these there must be pages 69 and 70, then seven pages of corrections and omissions. You will verify that this is indeed the case, as they are not found in every edition.

D) In accordance with your proposal, you may adopt the following prices in your region. For the Tanya*, Sefer HaMaamarim*, and Sefer HaSichot*, thirty to thirty-five cents each. For volume 4 of Sifraynu*, between twenty-five and thirty cents. For Poke'ach Ivrim*, and volumes 1 and 2 of Sifraynu*, ten to fifteen cents each.

E) If you find a pocket-size Tehillim*, you will have two thousand copies printed. You will let me know which edition you have and I will then tell you whether modifications should be made.

In any event, it will be necessary to mention at the beginning of the book the importance of reading Tehillim* in public(4), as is the case in the Siddur Torah Or* or at the end of the Moreh Shi'ur*(5).

F) I asked Rav B. G.(6) to expedite matters as you wished. But the following question is put to me: printing began six months ago and where are the books?

Moreover, others here have received books printed in your city, even though their printing project was introduced after you yourself were charged with ours. Similarly, some here have received Tanyas* and are selling them.

A letter informed us that the Joint(7) gave a sum for printing Poke'ach Ivrim* and I do not know what to reply. Can you inform me of all this as quickly as possible so that I am able to provide answers to those who question me?

G) You will send fifty copies of volume 1 of Sifraynu* to the following address:

Escuela Beth Jacob Montviduo 2317 Constitucion Uruguay. You will let me know on what date the shipment was made.

H) I have heard that some Likkutei Dibburim* and talks of the Rebbe* were printed in your city. You will kindly send us a few copies of each for our library.

I) Our emissaries, the young men Pozner and Baumgarten, will doubtless visit you(8). It would be good for you to confer. Perhaps they themselves could undertake to send here the books that are already ready.

J) If you are thinking of traveling(9), how will you arrange for the printing to be carried out properly? Beyond the means and efforts invested in this activity, it would cause a scandal, given all the publicity that has surrounded this activity, and would cause great pain to my father-in-law, the Rebbe* Shlita, Heaven forbid.

במענה על מכתבו משני בשבט (המוסג"ב מכתב לכ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר שליט"א מסרתי לכק"ש, כי איני רוצה לקחת עלי אחריות בעניניו אלו).

א) עוה"פ אבקש להזדרז בההדפסה ובהמשלוח ככל האפשרי.

ב) יוכל לשלוח ג"כ ע"ש מחנה ישראל, וקהת, לע"ע נתקבלו רק חמשה חבילות תניא, ומהם בעקזעמפליארים אחדים כמה עמודים חלק. או חסר.

ג) ידפיס התו"א מהדפוס ווילנא תרנ"ט והלקו"ת ווילנא תרס"ד שישנם אצלו כפי שכותב. ובטח בתו"א יש בסופו ג"כ ההוספות ובלקו"ת ג"כ לוח התיקון שבסופו. נוסח השערים וההקדמות אשלח כשיודיעו שנגשו להדפסת הנ"ל. וכן בנוגע להפסקי דינים (בסוף הפס"ד צ"ל ג"כ הדפים סט, ע, ושבעה עמודים "השמטות ותיקונים". וישגיח ע"ז כי בכמה עקז' חסרים הם).

ד) כפי הצעתו יוכל לקבוע המחירים באיזורים: תניא, ס' המאמרים, ס' השיחות כ"א ל-לה סענט. ספרנו ח"ד כה-ל סענט. פוקח עורים, ספרנו ח"א ח"ב כ"א יוד-טו סענט.

ה) אם אפשר למצוא תהלים של כיס צריך להדפיסו שני אלפים עקז'. ויודיע מאיזה דפוס יש אצלו ואז אברר אם צ"ל איזה שינויים. ובכל אופן צריך להוסיף בתחילתו ע"ד תקנת אמירת תהלים בצבור (כמו שנדפס בסי' תו"א או בסוף המורה שיעור).

ואו) את הרב"ג זרזתי כבקשתו. אבל שואלים אותי: זה כחצי שנה שהתחילו בדפוס ואי' הספרים. ובפרט אשר נתקבלו לאחרים כאן ספרים שנדפסו במחנו ושהתחילו לדבר ע"ד הדפסתם משך זמן אחרי שהתחיל הוא להתעסק בספרים שלנו. כן נתקבלו כאן לאחדים התניא'ת ומוכרים אותם. כן הגיע מכ' שהדזוינט נתן כסף על הדפסת הפוקח עורים. ואיני יודע מה לענות. ומטובו להודיעני עדכ"ז בהקדם ואדע להשיב לשואלי דבר.

ז) ישלח (זאקאזנאיע אם אפשר) חמשים עקז' ספרנו ח"א ישר ע"פ האדרעס (ויודיענו יום השילוח): Escuelu Beth - Jacob montviduo 2317 constitucion uruguay.

ח) שמעתי שהדפיסו במחנו ג"כ איזה מהלקוטי דבורים והשיחות, ומטובו לשלוח איזה עקז' מכאו"א בשביל הספרי' שלנו.

ט) בטח יבקרו אצלם שלוחינו האברכים פויזנער ובוימגארטען. וכדאי שיתיעצו יחד ואולי יוכלו הם לשלוח תיכף הספרים שכבר נדפסו לכאן.

י) אם בדעתו לנסוע איך יסדר את ענין ההדפסה שיבוא לידי פועל טוב כל הנ"ל? ומלבד הכסף והטרחה שהשקיעו בזה, ה"ז יהי' חילול השם ח"ו אחרי הפרסום שבדבר, עגמ"נ גדול ח"ו לכ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר שליט"א וכו' וכו'.
