29 Teves* 5715,

Brooklyn,

Greetings and blessings,

I am surprised that you say nothing of your discussions with your neighbors and of the influence you exert upon them. I have already written to you about this and shown you its necessity on various occasions. Now, an effort is never in vain, and such activity will surely bear fruit.

Separating the grain from the chaff constitutes a great merit, as various texts of our Sages* establish. And one enjoys the fruits of such activity in this world, by obtaining good health and, more generally, the satisfaction of one's material and spiritual needs.

The Hilulah* of 10 Shevat* is approaching, and you will surely find the appropriate words to explain to your neighbors what was the sacred mission in which my father-in-law, the Rebbe*, invested all his efforts throughout his life here below. One of his great principles was love of one's fellow, which enabled the drawing close of Jews from diverse backgrounds toward the Source of life and of good, Hashem* Elokeinu*, according to the paths He taught us in His Torah*.

May Hashem* grant you success in this domain as well.

With my blessing for giving good news of your state of health very soon, and also of all that has been said,
