To the distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem and devotes himself to communal needs, of generous conduct, issued from an illustrious family,

Greetings and blessing,

I hope that your return was agreeable and fruitful.

Each one, on returning home at the conclusion of a long and active voyage, establishes the balance sheet of what he has accomplished, of his actions during the duration of his peregrinations. I hope that you are satisfied with this balance sheet, of your voyage, in general, and of your visit to New York, in particular.

I hope also that this moral satisfaction does not have for consequence "to see oneself decorated with a medal and to rest on one's laurels," conformably to the expression of my father-in-law, the Rebbe, whose merit will protect us. On the contrary, you experience the need and the desire to multiply your actions, with even more ardor and enthusiasm.

One can, indeed, establish here a kal vachomer* reasoning. If the effort invested until now, which is only a beginning, whereas "all beginnings are difficult," has permitted to obtain such a success, how much more will it be so, when this effort is increased. The success will then be considerable and well superior to what it is currently.

It is doubtless useless to ask you once again to come to the aid of all our institutions, those of Chabad, which are, in fact, those of the entire people of Yisrael, and which, in addition, are morally close to you. I thus put into practice the Injunction of our Sages according to which "one counsels eagerness only to those who possess this quality by nature."

This concerns, in particular, the days that come, this period of Chassidic gatherings and this propitious moment, on the occasion of the liberation festival of my father-in-law, the Rebbe, the 12 and 13 Tammuz. These days are particularly favorable for fortifying oneself morally and for obtaining, from the one whose joy we celebrate, a blessing of success. May his merit protect us.

I wish you, in advance, a great success, in this domain.

הנני מקוה כי נסיעתו חזרה היתה נעימה וצלחה, וכדרך כל אדם בשובו הביתה מנסיעה ארוכה ופעילה שעושה סה"כ מהקורות אותו ופעולותיו במשך ימי נדודיו, הנני מקוה כי מע"כ שי' שבע רצון מסיכומו הוא על נסיעתו בכלל ועל ביקורו בניו-יורק בפרט, והעיקר, כפתגם כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע, שסיפוק רוחני זה אינו מהסוג המביא לידי "פאטשעוואט נא לאווראח", אלא אדרבה מעורר הרצון והתיאבון לפעולות נוספות ביתר אומץ ומרץ, בלימוד קל-וחומר: "מה-דאך" ביגיעה שעד עתה - שהיתה קשורה עם התחלה, וידוע אשר כל התחלות קשות - אף על פי כן ת"ל הצלחתי, על אחת כמה וכמה שאם אוסיף בהשתדלות הרי אצ"ל שאצליח בהצלחה מופלגה כמה פעמים ככה...

ובטח למותר לעורר את מע"כ שי' עוה"פ בנוגע לסיוע לכל ענינינו, עניני חב"ד, שבאמת הם עניני כלל ישראל, הקרובים לרוחו גם בלאו הכי, ולא באתי אלא לקיים מרז"ל אין מזרזין אלא למזורזין, ובפרט בימים הקרובים, ימי התועדות ושעת רצון לרגלי חג הגאולה של כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר - יב-יג תמוז - המסוגלים בפרט להתעוררות רוחנית ולהמשכת ברכה והצלחה מאת בעל השמחה, זכותו יגן עלינו.

ואאחל לו מראש הצלחה מרובה בזה.
