Igrot Kodesh · Letter 278 — Visa Assistance and Tisha B'Av Nidcheh

By the grace of Hashem, 8 Menachem Av* 5707, To our dear and distinguished friend, the great Rav, Rav Aryeh Leib Kremer[1], I greet and bless you,
A) Can you tell me what has been done in order to obtain a visa*[2] for Mr. Kluvgant[3]? Is your relative, Mr. Lewut, taking care of it? If you consider it necessary to expedite the proceedings, please do so.
B) Enclosed you will find a letter from my mother, the Rabbanit*, for Mr. Lewut. I do not know him personally, and you will therefore decide yourself how best to proceed: whether it is better to deliver it to him, or to briefly convey its contents to him and then return this letter to me.
C) You will no doubt fulfill as soon as possible the request made in our letter of 5 Menachem Av*.
I will conclude with a thought from my father-in-law, the Rebbe Shlita*: 'The fast is set aside*[4]. May Hashem bring it about that it be set aside completely.' Moreover, that which is permitted surpasses in importance that which is merely set aside. The Shulchan Aruch* of the Alter Rebbe* and the tractate Yoma* detail two aspects of each of these two notions.
In the World to Come, the elevation will be even greater, since this day will be transformed into joy and gladness.

א) בקשה להודיעני מה נעשה בדבר ההשתדלות לוויזה בשביל מר קלוווגאנט שי' אם קרובו מר לעוואוט משתדל בזה, ואם לפי ראיית כת"ר הדבר צריך זריזות יראה לזרז אותו.

ב) מוסג"פ מכתבי מאמי מורתי הרבנית תחי' בשביל מר לעוואוט והיות שאין ידוע לי מהותו, לפיכך יראה בעצמו איך לעשות, אם למסור לו המכתב בידו, או רק להודיעו את הראשי פרקים של המכתב, והמכתב להחזיר לי.

ג) בטח ימלא בהקדם בקשתנו במכ' ה' מנ"א.

ואסיים בפתגם כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר שליט"א: הצום נדחה ויה"ר שיהי' נדחה כליל.

ויש להעיר ממעלת גדר הותרה על דחוי' ויעויין ב' גדרים בדחוי' שו"ע רבנו ס' שכח סי"ג וב' גדרים בהותרה יומא ו, ב.

ולע"ל יהי' מעלה עוד יותר שיהפך לששון ולשמחה.
