To the great Rav, distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem,
Rav Shmuel (Rav Sh. Yallov),
Greetings and blessing,
I learned with pleasure that there will be celebrated, this Shabbos, the bris milah* of your grandson, the son of your daughter Chana Etel.
May Hashem permit his parents to bring him into the covenant of our father Avraham, in a good and propitious moment. And, just as he will have entered into this covenant, he will then be led toward the Torah, the chuppah*, and good deeds.
You know the halachic ruling of the Alter Rebbe, author of the Tanya* and Posek of the hidden part of Torah, author of the Shulchan Aruch and Posek of the revealed part of Torah, which is enunciated in his Shulchan Aruch, second edition, end of the fourth chapter, according to which the mitzvah* of bris milah marks the beginning of the entry of the holy soul into the Jewish body.
You know also the saying of my father-in-law, the Rebbe, whose merit will protect us, recalling that the soul has five names: Nefesh, Ruach, Neshamah, Chayah, and Yechidah (respectively the seat of vegetative life, of the emotions, of the intellect, of the forces transcending man, and the essence of this soul). When one puts the mitzvos* into practice here below, in this world of Asiyah (which corresponds to the Nefesh), the Ruach, Neshamah, and Chayah do the same in the upper worlds of Yetzirah, Beriah, and Atzilus. And one can perceive all this through the Yechidah, such as it finds itself in the worlds of the Ein Sof, transcending Atzilus.
And, it is so, in all the worlds, even when it is a question of someone who has no consciousness of it. It is on the subject of such a person that it is said: "His righteousness stands forever." Indeed, he possesses a capital in the upper worlds and, when the moment comes, he too will have consciousness of it, as the sichah* of 19 Kislev 5693 (1932, of the previous Rebbe), at paragraph 17, explains.
May Hashem grant that you and your wife conceive of them and of all your children much Chassidic nachas*, during long days and good years.
With my blessing of Mazal Tov,
