Greetings and blessing,

You tell me that you experience difficulties in concentrating your thought, your speech, and your action, as our holy Torah, Torah of life and eternal Torah, asks of us. You ask me to whom to address yourself and where to flee.

In fact, there is no place to flee, for chapter 41 of the holy Tanya* says: "Hashem is present before him. The earth is filled with His honor, and He observes him. He sounds the kidneys and the hearts to see whether he serves Him as is fitting."

And, all this gives the strength to struggle against the yetzer hara* and to vanquish it. This simple meditation is sufficient to attain it. In order to enlarge the aid of Hashem in the matter, one must engrave, in one's brain and in one's memory, a few chapters of Mishnah* and of Tanya*, the Chassidic discourse entitled "Mipnei seivah takum," which is found at the end of parshas* Kedoshim of the Likkutei Torah.

To this is added the necessity of keeping in your pocket — quite obviously when this is permitted — a Tanya*, of which you will study a few lines each time you have the time.

If you put all that into practice in a sincere manner, if you remember that one must, ceaselessly, put into practice the Injunction: "I place Hashem permanently before me," you will succeed, little by little, in chasing the evil and in reinforcing the light, in your four cubits.

You surely evoke, from time to time, your moral situation with a mashpia* with whom you study Chassidus*, and you put his counsels into practice. I await your good news.

... ומה שכותב שקשה לו להגביר את כח המחשבה דבור ומעשה שלו כמצוה עלינו בתורתו הק' תורת חיים ותורת עולם ושואל אנה לפנות ואנה לברוח - הנה אין צריך לברוח, כי כלשון התניא קדישא פרק מא: ה' נצב עליו ומלא כל הארץ כבודו ומביט עליו, ובוחן כליות ולב אם עובדו כראוי, אשר זהו גופא הוא נתינת כח לעמוד במלחמת היצר ולנצחה, וגם התבוננות קלה בזה מספיקה, וכדי להגדיל את הסייעתא דשמיא בזה צריך להיות חקוקים במוחו ובזכרונו איזה פרקים משניות ואיזה פרקים תניא והדרוש בלקוטי תורה סוף פ' קדושים ד"ה והדרת פני זקן, וזהו נוסף על מה שצריך להיות אצלו בכיסו - כמובן במקומות שמותר זה - תניא, ומזמן לזמן בשעות הפנויות ילמוד בו איזה שורות, ואם יעשה ככל הנ"ל אליבא דנפשי' ויזכיר לעצמו הציווי התמידי דשוויתי ה' לנגדי תמיד, הרי לאט לאט יגרש הרע ויגביר האור בהד' אמות שלו.

בטח מרציא מזמן לזמן מצבו הרוחני לפני המשפיע שלומד אצלו דא"ח ועושה כהוראתו ואחכה לבשו"ט.
