To the Rav, distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem and devotes himself to communal needs,

Greetings and blessing,

The present letter has been delayed and, in the meantime, I received yours of 17 (the Rebbe writes Tov, "good," a term whose numerical value is seventeen) and 24 Sivan. I have already written that it is difficult for me, finding myself here, to distribute the functions and the roles. This must be done on the spot. You must concert yourselves and use the capacities of the ones and the others, in all the measure of the possible.

For what concerns the vacances, I have already replied. Quite obviously, there is no question of according them twice.

Concerning the content of your Chassidic gatherings, you do well to evoke fervent prayer and the study of Chassidus*. And, I am surprised that you can imagine that, at the present hour, this is no longer necessary, chas veshalom*. Nevertheless, one must also study the revealed part of Torah, in a deep manner and with ardor.

And, if no one else addresses such a message to the students, who will do it? Our Sages say, as you know, that "in a place where there is no man, strive..." (to be one), and "there is room, on the head...."

May Hashem accord you success.

.... נתעכב מכ' זה ובנתיים הגיעו מכתביו מטו"ב וכ"ד סיון. וכ"כ שקשה להתערב מכאן בחילוק המשרות והתפקידים, שזה צריך בחינה על אתר, ועליהם להתדבר בזה ביניהם ולנצל את כחותיו של כאו"א ככל האפשרי.

ע"ד החופש - כבר עניתי. ופשיטא שאין מקום לחופש ב' פעמים.

בנוגע לתוכן ההתועדויות שלו - יישר חילי' שמדבר ע"ד עבודת התפלה ולימוד דא"ח. ותימה גם על הקס"ד שעתה א"צ לזה, ח"ו. אלא, שלאידך גיסא, מוכרח לימוד הנגלה בעיון ובהתמדה. וגם אין אחר מדבר עד"ז עם הת', הרי ידוע פסק רז"ל במקום שאין אנשים השתדל כו', ומקום יש בראש כו'. והשי"ת יצליחו.
