Greetings and blessing,

I reply to your letter, in which you inform me of your birthday.

You doubtless know the practices that it is fitting to adopt — that of being called to the Torah, of fixing an additional study of the revealed part of Torah and of Chassidus*, in addition to those that you have, moreover, and that you maintain, as well as the three studies that concern each one, those of Chumash*, Tehillim*, and Tanya*.

May Hashem grant that you have a year of success, in the study of the revealed part of Torah and of its deep teaching, in the practice of mitzvos* in the best fashion. For this, you must arouse in yourself a real motivation, in all these domains.

Doubtless you influence your friends so that they also give proof of this same self-sacrifice, in particular during the present era, when, according to the expression of my father-in-law, the Rebbe, whose merit will protect us, "he (Mashiach*) stands behind our wall."

In this way, the so-hoped-for promise will be accomplished as quickly as possible, according to which "these days (which separate the 17 Tammuz from the 9 Av and commemorate the destruction of the Temple) will transform themselves into joy and gladness."

במענה על מכתבו הודעתו מיום הולדתו שלו. ובודאי ידוע לו הנהגה בעלי' לתורה, לימוד שיעור נוסף הן בתורת הנגלה והן בתורת החסידות נוסף על השיעורים הרגילים ושלשת השיעורים השוים לכל נפש דחת"ת ומקיימם, הנה יה"ר מהשי"ת שתהי' שנה זו שנת הצלחה אצלו בלימוד הנגלה ובלימוד פנימיות התורה וקיום המצות בהידור אשר כל זה תלוי במסירה ונתינה אמיתית לכל הנ"ל בנוגע לעצמו, ובודאי משפיע ג"כ על חבריו שיתאמצו במסירה ונתינה זו ובפרט בימינו אלה אשר כפתגם כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע הנה זה עומד אחר כתלנו ואשר עי"ז יתקיים בהקדם היעוד המקווה שיהפכו ימים אלו לששון ולשמחה.
