By the grace of Hashem, 27 Tammuz* 5707, To my close relative, the Chassid* who fears Hashem, Rav C. Z.[1], I greet and bless you,
I have duly received your two letters, as well as that of Gluskin[2], enclosed with the first. I thank you for these letters and will reply to Gluskin directly. Please forgive me for the delay in this reply. It is due to the accumulation of important work during my absence[3], of which I have not yet managed to catch up.
A) I searched several times for the letter in which you were questioning my father-in-law, the Rebbe Shlita*. It turns out it had been misplaced and we found it only yesterday.
B) As I promised you, I mentioned before my father-in-law, the Rebbe, the name of Israel, son of Beila Cohen, of Nevel. I did so at a propitious moment, on the day of the liberation festival of 12 Tammuz*.
Naturally, I specified that I was doing so on your behalf, and I wished in this way that your own name would also be recalled.
C) I thank you for bringing me good news: the arrival of your brother-in-law[4], together with the members of his family, and the expansion of Beit Rivkah*[4]. You will strive to continue its development, in accordance with the wish of my father-in-law, the Rebbe Shlita*.
D) You offered me your help. I would therefore like to ask you to collect the packages of books that were sent to me in Paris, at 10 rue D.ieu*, and to tell me what they contain. I will then write to you what should be done with them. I thank you in advance.
E) A biography of the Rebbe Maharash* was published on the occasion of the liberation festival[5] and I asked that a copy be sent to you.
F) Please convey to Rav M. Itkin[6] that I immediately delivered the instruments and the curtain to my father-in-law, the Rebbe Shlita*. It would be good if he would write everything he knows about these instruments and the information he has about them, either to me or directly to the secretariat of my father-in-law, the Rebbe Shlita*.
G) Can you clarify for me once more the exact date of my father's passing[7]? Was it the 20th of Menachem Av*, which is the 9th of August, before sunset or after? Perhaps you could ask Yaakov Yosef Raskin, who was present there at the time.
Please convey my greetings to our friend, Chassid* who fears Hashem, Rav C. B.[8]. As he requested of me, I mentioned his name on the day of the liberation festival to my father-in-law, the Rebbe Shlita*, and asked for a blessing for his affairs.
During the liberation festival this year, my father-in-law, the Rebbe Shlita*, took part in a Chassidic farbrengen* that lasted several hours. You have surely received in due course the telegram he sent on that occasion.
Convey my greetings to the members of your family and to all of yours. I wish you all the good, M. Schneerson,
Thank Hashem, my mother is well and sends her fond regards to all the members of your family.
Enclosed you will find a letter for Rav M. Lipsker[9] and a five-hundred-franc note[10].

שני מכתביו, עם המצורף לראשון מכתב גלוסקין (לו אכתוב ביחוד) בת"ח קבלתי.

ואתו הסליחה על איחור המענה ע"ע, והוא מפני רוב העבודה אשר נתקבצה בעת אי היותי פה, ואשר גם עתה עדיין לא נעשתה כולה.

א) חקרתי ודרשתי זה כמה פעמים למכתבו שאלה אשר כתב לכ"ק מו"ח אד"ש ומפני סיבה נאבד המכתב ורק אתמל נמצא.

ב) כפי ההבטחה הזכרתי לפני כ"ק מו"ח אד"ש את ישראל בן ביילע הכהן מנעוועל, וגם בעת רצון הוא חג הגאולה י"ב תמוז. כמובן, אמרתי שזהו בהתעוררות ממנו וכונתי היתה כדי שגם שמו יעלה לזכרון (ראה מכתב כ"ק מו"ח אד"ש הנדפס בהתמים ח"ב ע' עג או בקובץ מכ' הראשון ע' 20).

ג) ת"ח על הבשו"ט מביאת גיסו עם ב"ב שיחיו שלום ומהגדלת הבית רבקה. ובטח ישתדלו שתלך הלוך וגדול וכפי רצון כ"ק מו"ח אד"ש.

ד) ע"פ הצעתו שיעזור בהענינים הנני לבקשו שיקח את כל חבילות הספרים שנשלחו לי לפאריז על האדרעס של 10 ריע דיע, ויודיעני מה נמצא בהם, ואז אכתוב לו מה לעשות בהספרים, ותודה מראש.

ה) לחג הגאולה הו"ל ספר תולדות מהר"ש וצויתי לשלח לו עקזעמפל.

ו) מטובו למסור לר"מ שי' איטקין שמסרתי תומ"י כל הכלים והפרכת לכ"ק מו"ח אד"ש. ומהנכון שהר"מ שי' יכתוב כל סדר ההשתלשלות של הכלים והידיעות שיש לו אודותם על שמי או ישר למזכירות כ"ק מו"ח אד"ש.

ז) מטובו להודיעני עוה"פ יום פטירת אאמו"ר בדיוק. אם הוא כ' מנ"א (9 אוגוסט) לפני שקיעת החמה או לאחר כך. ואולי יש לברר אצל יעקב יוסף ראסקין וכו' שהי' אז שם.

מטובו לפ"ש ידידנו הוו"ח אי"א וכו' מהרשב"ץ שי', כבקשתו, הזכרתיו בחג הגאולה לפני כ"ק מו"ח אד"ש לבקשת ברכה בעסקיו.

בחג הגאולה ש.ז. הי' כ"ק מו"ח אד"ש נוכח בהתועדות משך איזה שעות, ובטח הגיעם הטלגרם שלו לחג הגאולה בזמנה.
