Greetings and blessing,
I reply to your letter of 17 Iyar and to the one that preceded it. You speak to me of the young man who is proposed to your sister-in-law, the sister of your wife, and you yourself emphasize all the advantages that such a union would present.
Nevertheless, your worry shows through between the lines, and you explain that they do not have the means to rent an apartment. Imagine, then, that it is as difficult to conclude a union as to split the Yam Suf*, according to the expression of our Sages! Now, your sister-in-law has found the match that suits her, materially and spiritually. After such a miracle has occurred, how can you be preoccupied by the kitchen and by the furniture?
It is a question of your close relative, and you should therefore thank Hashem that she has found a young man who fears Hashem and studies Torah, as you emphasize in your letter. Although the latter does not possess great means, she has, with all her heart, given her accord to this union. May Hashem grant that, in the future, you announce to me only good news like this!
For what concerns yourself and the activity that you must adopt, I have already said, basing myself on what our holy masters explained to us, from the Baal Shem Tov and his successors up to my father-in-law, the Rebbe, whose merit will protect us, that each Yid*, whoever he be, must reject ill humor and sadness, which are of no utility, what is more, which are at the origin of all evils.
It is indeed so for what concerns you. It is a pity that you have such thoughts. You must pursue your pedagogical activity, despite the various arguments that you develop to propose to put an end to it. Thus, you will conceive of it moral satisfaction, and you will perceive that your hesitations and your doubts were without foundation. May Hashem grant that it be so as quickly as possible.
With my blessing for success in all that has just been said and in the expectation of your good news, in particular for what concerns the state of health of your son,
