To the distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem and devotes himself to communal needs,

Greetings and blessing,

I was satisfied to receive your letter of Rosh Chodesh* Sivan, in which you make me a part of the action that you lead with the shochtim*, who approach themselves, little by little, to the teaching of Chassidus*, to its practices and its usages. Beyond doubt, if you pursue in this way, which is that of the Torah, in an agreeable and tranquil manner, you will know an even more considerable success.

It is the same for what you report to me concerning the Chassidic gathering (presumably organized for women). It would be good to read the sichos* (of the Rebbe) when the association of women and young girls of Chabad meets.

In a general manner, the reading of profane books is harmful and damaging. Nevertheless, you know that advancement must be progressive, in particular when it is a question of women.

This is, indeed, what our Sages say regarding the giving of the Torah, and Rashi explains it when he comments on the verse: "Thus shall you speak to the house of Yaakov." He emphasizes that one must address oneself to women with gentleness. And, it is the same for what is the object of our discourse. One must therefore emphasize to them the importance of positive action — for example, of the reading of the sichos*.

It is thus that there will be realized, little by little, the assertion according to which "a little light repels much darkness." Quite obviously, this does not mean that you must give your accord to this reading of profane books. Nevertheless, for the moment, you must, above all, emphasize the importance of positive action.

I will mention all the names that you cite to me, in a favorable moment, when I find myself near the tziyun* of my father-in-law, the Rebbe, whose merit will protect us. May Hashem confer upon them success and may they progress, from one stage to the next.

You write to me that you teach Tanya* to very young men. At the next occasion, you will specify to me whether they are students of the Yeshivah* or whether they are still external to it. May Hashem accord you success in all these domains.

On the occasion of the festival of Shavuos, the time of the giving and reception of our Torah, which approaches, I address you my blessing, in the formulation of my father-in-law, the Rebbe, that you receive it in a joyous and profound manner.

שלום וברכה!

נהניתי לקבל מכתבו מר"ח סיון, בו כותב אודות פעולותיו בין השו"בים אשר מתקדמים הם לאט לאט לתורת החסידות הדרכותי' ומנהגי' ובודאי כשימשיך בזה בדרכי נועם ובדרכי שלום שהם הם דרכי התורה יצליח בזה עוד יותר.

וה"ה למה שכותב אודות התועדות ומהנכון לקרות בהשיחות באסיפת אגודת נשי ובנות חב"ד. והנה אף שקריאת ספרים החיצונים מקלקלת ומזקת כו' וכו' אבל ידוע שבכלל צריך ללכת מן הקל אל הכבד ובפרט בהנוגע לתעמולה בין הנשים וכמשארז"ל בזה ג"כ בנוגע למתן תורה והובא בפירוש רש"י במקומו כה תאמר לבית יעקב, אשר להנשים צריכה להיות אמירה רכה, וכן בהנוגע להנ"ל צריכה להיות ההדגשה יותר בההוספה בועשה טוב היינו קריאת שיחות כו' וכו' שאז במשך הזמן יקויים הפסק דין דמעט אור דוחה הרבה חשך ממילא ועאכו"כ הרבה אור. מובן שאין כוונתי בזה שיתן הסכם ע"ז שיקראו הנ"ל בספרים החיצונים אלא שלע"ע תהי' ההדגשה בהענין דועשה טוב.

בעת רצון הנה אזכיר את כל אלו שכותב שמותיהם בהיותי על הציון הק' של כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע והשי"ת יצליחם שילכו מחיל אל חיל.

כותב שלומד תניא לפני בחורים צעירים, ובטח בהזדמנות הבאה יודיע אם הם מבני הישיבה או שמבחוץ עדיין והשי"ת יצליחו בכל הנ"ל.

ולקראת חג השבועות זמן מתן תורתנו וקבלתה, הבע"ל הנני בזה להביע ברכתי בנוסח כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר, לקבלת התורה בשמחה ובפנימיות.
