Rav Avraham Chaim (Rav A. C. Naeh, of Yerushalayim),
Greetings and blessing,
I reply to your letter of 27 Iyar. As you asked me, the pamphlet of the 19th of Kislev (of the teachings of the previous Rebbe) was sent to you, by separate parcel.
You evoke the matter of saying "lizman" (and not "lazman," in the blessing of Shehecheyanu). It is effectively the pronunciation that is adopted by the chassidim*, and I clearly remember having heard it from my father-in-law, the Rebbe, whose merit will protect us.
My question (regarding this blessing) was, in fact, the following. Do you have knowledge of a reference or of a tradition on this subject? An objection is raised (concerning this manner of pronouncing) according to the rules of grammar, and you make mention of it in your letter. Perhaps one must say "lazman" when this shortens the heh* serving as article. Conversely, when the word zeman is enunciated without this heh* serving as article, the grammar effectively permits saying "lizman." Nevertheless, I am searching for a reference for all that and, for the moment, I have not yet found it.
On the occasion of the festival of Shavuos, the time of the giving and reception of our Torah, I address you my blessing, in the formulation of my father-in-law, the Rebbe, whose merit will protect us, that you receive it in a joyous and profound manner.

במענה על מכתבו מכ"ז אייר, הנה כבקשתו נשלח לו קונטרס י"ט כסלו בחבילה בפ"ע.
במ"ש אודות אמירת לזמן בחיריק, הנה כן נוהגים כל אנ"ש, וכמדומה ברור שכן שמעתי אומר כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע, ושאלתי היתה אם ידוע לכהדר"ג איזה מקור או מסורה בזה. ומה שמקשים מכללי הדקדוק וכותבם ג"כ במכתבו, הנה בד"א שצריך להיות בפת"ח כשמקצר הה"א הידיעה, אבל אם תיבת זמן היא מלכתחילה בלא ה"א הידיעה הרי הלמ"ד יכול להיות בחיריק גם ע"פ דקדוק, אלא שבכ"ז, הנני מחפש מקור על זה אף שלע"ע לא מצאתיו.
ולקראת חג השבועות זמן מתן תורתנו וקבלתה, הבע"ל, הנני בזה להביע ברכתי בנוסח כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע לקבלת התורה בשמחה ובפנימיות.
