To the Rav, distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem and devotes himself to communal needs,

Greetings and blessing,

I received your letter of 25 Iyar. It is a pity to take so much delay when it is a question of announcing good news. And, "there is no good but the Torah," since it is a question, in the present case, of a Chassidic gathering, which constitutes even a double good, is "good for the heavens and good for the creatures," as tractate Kiddushin 40a explains. You will also consult the letter of the Rebbe Rashab, which is printed in pamphlet no. 61 (Igros Kodesh of the Rebbe Rashab, vol. 1, letter no. 48, p. 139).

I allude, quite obviously, to the Chassidic gathering of Lag BaOmer, which you describe to me in your letter. In every era, one desires to receive good news, material and spiritual, but how much more so is it in our generation, that of the "footsteps of Moshiach*," while "there is no day (whose curse is not greater than that of the preceding day, in conformity with the expression of our Sages)."

Doubtless you will multiply your efforts in what concerns the vacances (vacation period). The more one multiplies them, the more one will mobilize oneself, and the more one will be worthy of praise. And you know the explanation given on this subject by my father-in-law, the Rebbe, which is printed in HaYom Yom*, at the date of 17 Nissan.

מאשר הנני קבל מכתבו מכ"ה אייר, וחבל על אשר מאחרים כ"כ כשיש בשו"ט ואין טוב אלא תורה והתועדות חסידית שזהו טוב כפול לבריות ולשמים כמבואר בקדושין דף מ, ע"א ועיין ג"כ מכתב כ"ק אדמו"ר (מוהרש"ב) נ"ע הנדפס בקונטרס ס"א. ומובן שכוונתי בזה להתועדות דל"ג בעומר שכותב אודותה. ואם בכל הזמנים היו משתוקקים לקבל בשו"ט הן בגשמיות והן ברוחניות, עאכו"כ בדורנו עקבת[א] דמשיחא שאין לך יום וכו'.

בודאי יוסיפו אומץ בהתעמולה אודות זמן הוואקאנס, וכל המרבה ומתאמץ בזה ה"ז משובח, וכבר ידוע דיוק כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר נדפס בהיום יום י"ז ניסן.

בברכה לקבלת התורה בשמחה ובפנימיות.
