To the women's group of Brownsville and East Newark and to its president, Mrs. Devorah Greenberg,

Blessing and greetings,

I was satisfied to have your news, as well as that of the last annual dinner of your group. I hope that it went well, materially and spiritually.

At the giving of our Torah, Hashem said to Moshe Rabbeinu: "Thus shall you say to the house of Yaakov" — that is, to the women — and only after that did He address Himself "to the children of Yisrael," the men. Now, each year this giving occurs anew.

In these days that precede Shavuos, the time of the giving of our Torah, may Hashem accord success to each one among you, so that she may be the guide of her family, of her friends, and of her acquaintances, indicating to them in what manner one can conform one's daily conduct to the teachings of our holy Torah.

Within the entire Jewish people, we prepare ourselves to receive this holy Torah on this festival of Shavuos, which approaches, for us and for all Yisrael, for the good.
