Greetings and blessing,

I reply to the question that you posed to me some time ago. You do not wish to study Torah, and you ask me whether you can participate in the Nachal* of Po'alei Agudas Yisrael (one of the Orthodox parties in Israel).

In my opinion, you must study, still for one year, at the Yeshivah* Lubavitch of Lod, with the enthusiasm and zest that are fitting. You say that you do not want to study Torah. Yet, you are sufficiently adult to understand that the intellect must direct the will, and not the inverse.

With such an approach, you will know success in this study. Then, in one year, if you wish to learn agriculture or to find another trade, you will write to me again.

Quite obviously, when I say one year, this does not allude to the four months that remain until the end of the year 5714, but to a true year — that is, approximately twelve months.

Every morning, after the prayer, you surely read some Tehillim*. Such a practice is also propitious so that Hashem may guide you on the way that He deems straight, materially and spiritually at once.

במענה על שאלתו מאז שאינו רוצה ללמוד ושואל אם ללכת לנח"ל של פא"י וכו'.

הנה לדעתי ילמוד עוד שנה בישיבת תומכי תמימים בלוד במסירה ונתינה המתאימה, ומה שכותב שאינו רוצה, הנה הוא די מבוגר להבין אשר השכל צריך להיות שליט על הרצון ולא הרצון על השכל, אשר בגישה כזו יצליח בלימודו וכעבור השנה וירצה לעבוד בחקלאות או להסתדר באופן אחר יכתוב לי עוד הפעם. מובן שבכתבי שנה אין כוונתי ארבעה חדשים עד תום שנת תשי"ד אלא לשנה כפשוטה היינו לערך י"ב חדש.

בטח אומר אחר התפלה בכל יום בקר איזה קאפיטלעך תהלים אשר גם זה אחת הסגולות שינחהו השי"ת בדרך הטובה לפניו בגשמיות וברוחניות גם יחד.
