Greetings and blessing,

I reply to your letter of 16 Iyar:

A) Your activity is linked to enrollment and diffusion. Obviously, you must do so with the agreement of the direction of the yeshivah*. You must be able to do it without troubling your study of the revealed part of the Torah and of the teaching of Chassidus*. Exceptionally, you can adopt another distribution of time, but you will then make up what you have missed of your study during your free time.

B) You speak of coming to the United States in order to pursue your studies here. Now, you still have much to do, and you can progress in your yeshivah* in the Holy Land. You will therefore do so with the ardor and fervor that are fitting, without troubling yourself, for the moment, by envisaging a trip.

C) You tell me that you lack constancy in your study of the revealed part of the Torah. You know to what extent this was important to our holy masters. And our Sages have asserted that "one who tells you he has made efforts but has not known success — do not believe him."

Everything therefore depends on you. If you wish, you will study with ardor and you will know success. Certainly, there has been an interruption in this domain, and it is said that "all beginnings are difficult." But, little by little, this will become easier and easier for you, provided that your approach be sincere.

It is the same for the study of Chassidus*, which, beyond doubt, can also improve. With the agreement of your teacher and your spiritual guide, you will distribute the time of your review so that you do not have to devote numerous hours to one same study. You will therefore alternate, and, at least at first, this will reinforce your desire to study. Indeed, you know the teaching of our Sages, according to which "one must study what one desires."

You surely maintain the three studies that concern each one, instituted by my father-in-law, the Rebbe, whose merit will protect us. They are well known and concern Chumash*, Tehillim*, and Tanya*. You have surely chosen a tractate during the distribution of the Talmud, and from time to time you give a few coins to tzedakah*.

May Hashem grant you success.

With my blessing,

For the Rebbe shlita*, the secretary,
