I reply to the questions that you ask me in your letter:
A) You have studied the end of the first chapter of Tanya*, evoking the source of the souls of the nations, and you ask me what is the case of the righteous among these nations.
The souls of the righteous of the nations emanate from kelipas nogah* (the force of evil that can know elevation), as different texts of Chassidus* establish, in particular the commentaries on the Kuntres HaHispa'alus* (of the Mitteler Rebbe), page 47d. You will also consult the Zohar*, vol. 2, beginning at page 95b.
B) What is the case of a convert? Does he conserve the soul that he had when he was a non-Jew?
Hashem preserve us from such a conception! It is clear that he receives a soul belonging to the domain of holiness. This is one of the interpretations that can be made of the teaching of our Sages according to which "one who converts is like a child newly born." You will consult the introduction of the Zohar*, page 13a-b, which specifies the source of the soul of converts.
You doubtless know the practice that concerns each one, consisting of reading every day, after the prayer, Tehillim* according to their monthly division, and to study a passage of Chumash* with the commentary of Rashi on the parshah* of the week. These studies are also propitious to know success in the study of the revealed part of the Torah and of Chassidus*.

א) בלמדו תניא סוף פרק א' אודות מקור נפשות האומות אינם יהודים ושואל בהנוגע לנפשות חסידי אומות העולם.
נפשות חסידי או"ה נלקחים מנוגה כמבואר בכמה מקומות בדא"ח ומהם בהנדפסים בלקוטי ביאורים על קונטרס התפעלות דף מ"ז, עמוד ד'. וראה ג"כ זח"ב צה: ואילך.
ב) איך הוא בגר שנתגייר, אם נשמתו נשארה כמו שהי' בגויותו.
הנה ח"ו לומר כן כי פשיטא אשר נמשכה לו נשמה דקדושה וזה ג"כ אחד הפירושים בלשון רז"ל גר שנתגייר כקטן שנולד דמי וראה בהקדמת ספר הזהר דף י"ג סע"א וריש עמוד ב' במקור נשמת הגרים.
בודאי יודע מהתקנה השוה לכל נפש לאמר בכל יום אחר התפלה שיעור
תהלים - כפי שנחלק התהלים לימי החודש - וכן ללמוד פרשה חומש עם פירוש רש"י מפרשת השבוע ושומר תקנות אלו שהם סגולה גם להצלחה בלימוד תורת הנגלה ותורת החסידות.
