Greetings and blessing,

I reply to your letter of the first day of Rosh Chodesh* Iyar, in which you specify to me that you are a former student of a Yeshivas Lubavitch. Subsequently, you neglected study and you had, at Kfar Chabad, various professional occupations, on a part-time basis. You ask me what you should do during these next months.

In my opinion, you must return to the yeshivah* as quickly as possible and pursue your studies there with ardor, eagerness, and fervor. This will be a good preparation, in general and, above all, for your entrance into the professional school.

Indeed, one accepts in priority, in this school, young men who have given proof that their brain masters their will, who can acquit themselves convenably of the mission entrusted to them. Those, by contrast, who do all that comes to their thought cannot constrain themselves to a discipline, submit themselves and say: "We will do, and (then) we will understand" (they could therefore be considered, within the school, as disturbing elements).

You doubtless read, each day after the morning prayer, Tehillim* (according to their monthly division). You also maintain a study of the revealed part of the Torah and one of Chassidus*. May Hashem confer upon you success.

במענה על מכתבו מאדר"ח אייר. בו כותב אשר לפנים למד בישיבת תומכי תמימים... ואח"כ נתרשל בלימודו ועבד חלק מ[ז]מנו בעבודות שונות בכפר חב"ד, ושואל דעתי מה עליו לעשות בחדשים הקרובים.

הנה לדעתי יכנס בהקדם להישיבה וילמוד שם במסירה ונתינה ובשקידה אשר זה יהי' הכנה טובה בכלל וגם בענין הכניסה לבית ספר למלאכה, כי מובן אשר דין קדימה יותר בקבלה לתלמיד בבית ספר זה לאלו האברכים שיראו אשר המוח שלהם שליט על רצונם ויכולים הם למלאות תפקידם שנמסר להם כדבעי, ואלה שעושים את העולה במחשבתם אינם שייכים למשמעת ולהנהגה דקבלת עול והקדמת נעשה לנשמע.

בודאי אומר בכל יום אחר התפלה בבקר את השיעור תהלים וגם עתה יש לו קביעות בלימוד תורת הנגלה ותורת החסידות והשי"ת יצליחו.
