By the grace of Hashem*, 1st day of Rosh Chodesh* Adar* 5707, To the committee of the Beth Rivkah* girls' school, in Paris, I greet you and bless you,
In accordance with the wish of my father-in-law, the Rebbe* Shlita*, the Beth Rivkah* school of Paris is henceforth affiliated with the school network under our direction.
By separate post, we are sending you the standard curriculum of the Beth Rivkah* schools. If you wish to introduce some modifications in the one in Paris, in accordance with local conditions, please submit your proposals to us accordingly.
In the Beth Rivkah* schools, the pronunciation must be Ashkenazic*.
You will find enclosed a questionnaire which we ask you kindly to fill out and send to us.
Our Sages* teach, in tractate Taanit* 20a, that one should intensify one's joy as soon as the month of Adar* begins, due to the proximity of Purim*. Now, it is on the occasion of this festival, as Chassidut* explains in particular, that the Jews fulfilled that to which they had committed themselves at the giving of the Torah*, according to tractate Shabbat* 88a.
The Torah* was given only because the women accepted to receive it first, as the Midrash* Shemot Rabbah* states. And, likewise, the miracle of Purim* came about essentially through women, as the Rashbam* emphasizes.

אר"ז (תענית כ, א) משנכנס אדר מרבין בשמחה, והוא מפני ימי הפורים, והנה עיקר ענין פורים, ובפרט ע"פ המבואר בדא"ח, הוא מה שקיימו על מה שקבלו כבר (שבת פח, א) בנתינת התורה, ולכן כמו שנתינת התורה תלוי בזה שהנשים נתרצו תחלה לקבלה וכמרז"ל (שמ"ר פכ"ח) כמו"כ גם עיקר נס פורים ע"י נשים הי' וכמ"ש הרשב"ם (תוד"ה שאף מגילה ד, א. וראה ברש"ש שם ישוב הקושיות).
