To my close relative, the distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem,
Rav Baruch (Rav B. Schneersohn, of Yerushalayim),
Greetings and blessing,
I received your letter in its time, and I have already addressed myself to the directors of the Kollel Chabad*, from whom I have just obtained a response. Its directors have contacted you, and you will surely let me know the positive results that follow.
On this occasion, I would like to know whether you possess manuscripts or letters of preceding generations, of our family (the Schneersohn family), and, if so, whether it is possible to gain knowledge of their content, at least summarily, or even to obtain a copy — provided, of course, that it is not a matter of what is personal. I thank you for whatever you will be able to do in this matter.
May Hashem grant you length of days and good and pleasant years, and that, in good health, you maintain the family tradition.

בעתו קבלתי מכתבו וכבר פניתי להנהלת כולל חב"ד וזה עתה נתקבל המענה שלהם שבאו בקישור אתו ובודאי יודיע מהתוצאות הטובות שבזה.
בהזדמנות זו אתענין לדעת אם נמצא תחת ידו איזה כתבי יד או מכתבים וכיו"ב מהדורות שלפנים ממשפחתנו ואם הן אם אפשר לדעת תוכנם ומהותם בכללות עכ"פ או העתקה מהם כמובן אם אינם ענינים פרטים ביותר ות"ח מראש על הטרחה בזה.
והשי"ת יאריך ימיו ושנותיו בטוב ובנעימים ומתוך בריאות הנכונה ימשיך בדרך המסורה של המשפחה.
