Greetings and blessing,

I am responding to your letter of 23 Adar Sheni, in which you again raise the question of your moving (see also letters 2265 and 2558). You conclude your letter by saying that the responsibility of finding a shochet* who will replace you, including in your other functions, falls upon the community, the religious committee, and, above all, the Rav, who will all make efforts in this direction.

My view of settling here rests on two points:

A) It is particularly difficult to settle here, and, in a natural manner, the prospects do not allow one to foresee a positive evolution of this situation.

B) In every place where one acts and where one obtains a result, one must ensure that nothing is lacking in what is being accomplished. Indeed, you have been assured that measures will be taken, but, for the moment, no one has begun to do so, and I do not know whether you can leave the city on the basis of this promise.

Even if you find a person capable of accomplishing all this, you must nevertheless take counsel, in a precise manner, with your friends and with Chassidim in different countries, in order to determine where to settle and what employment opportunities may be found there.

May Hashem guide you on the path that will be good for you and for the members of your family, materially and spiritually at the same time.

במענה על מכתבו מכ"ג אד"ש, בו מעורר עוד הפעם את השאלה אודות העתקה, ומסיים אשר למצוא שו"ב אחר וממלא מקומו ג"כ בשאר הענינים שמתעסק בהם, הרי ע"ז ישנו שם קהלה ועד דתי ובראשם הרה"ח כו' וכו' מוה"ר... ובודאי ישתדלו וכו'.

והנה בהיחס שלי להעתקה לכאן יש בו שתי נקודות. א) להסתדר כאן קשה ביותר ובדרך הטבע אין ניכר שהולך ומשתפר. ב) שבכל מקום שישנם און מען טוט דארטען עפעס אויף דארף [מען] דאך באווארענען שלא יחסר בעבודה הק'. וההבטחה אשר בודאי ישתדלו כנ"ל הרי אין עדיין אדם פועל בהענינים ובמילא איני יודע אם יכול הוא לעזוב את מקומו וכל הענינים על יסוד הבטחה זו. ואם גם ימצא איש מתאים לכל הנ"ל הרי גם אז עליו להתייעץ הדיק היטיב עם ידידיו ואנ"ש במדינות השונות לאיזה מקום להעתיק, והשי"ת ינחהו בדרך הישרה בטוב לפניו ולב"ב שיחיו בגשמיות וברוחניות גם יחד.
