To the distinguished Chassid who fears Hashem and devotes himself to communal needs, Rav Yoetz David Gluck,

Greetings and blessing,

I received your letter some time ago, informing me of the decisions that were taken at the meeting of 8 Shevat 5714. At the present time these have surely been put into practice, for the act is essential, and not study. In fact, action is the means of verifying in what manner study took place, as is explained regarding the statement of Chazal* that "none is so wise as he who has experience."

I was pleased to read in your letter that various shiurim* had been instituted in your city. But, following on what was said earlier, I am particularly surprised that you do not speak of a study of the laws that one applies routinely (see letter no. 2456) and which figure, for the most part, in the Shulchan Aruch* Orach Chaim. It is particularly necessary to know them, and one must therefore study them, at least in abridged form. They are found in the Siddur* Derech HaChaim of the Gaon of Lissa. One may also use the Kitzur Shulchan Aruch*, omitting some chapters that are less useful.

And may Hashem grant that the Torah scholars and those who have the merit of devoting themselves to study also learn the laws relating to the various brachos* one must recite, or to the permitted interruptions during tefillah*. Unfortunately, this knowledge is cruelly lacking, sometimes even in a frightening way.

May Hashem grant that this study be instituted in your city, through your intermediary, and that it take on broad proportions — moreover, that it have a positive effect on all the participants in these shiurim*, which also concerns women, who must know, for example, the laws of taharas hamishpachah*.

You do not specify, in your letter, that you have a shiur* in Chassidus*, but I am sure that you have only forgotten to write me about it, and that you have by no means omitted such a study, chas veshalom*.

May Hashem allow you to announce to me good tidings in all these areas.

מאשר הנני קבלת מכתבו מאז בצירוף החלטת הכינוס דח' שבט תשי"ד. ובודאי לעת כזאת כבר יכול להודיע מאופן הבאת החלטות הנ"ל לידי פועל כי הרי לא המדרש עיקר אלא המעשה עיקר, והמעשה היא הבחינה באיזה אופן הי' המדרש וכיו"ב, וכמבואר בפירוש המאמר אין חכם כבעל הנסיון.

נהניתי ממ"ש במכתבו אודות קביעות השיעורים השונים שבמחנם הט', אבל מה שמפליאני ביותר, והוא ג"כ בהמשך להנ"ל, הוא שאינו מזכיר דבר אודות שיעור לימוד בהלכות הצריכות שברובם נמצאים בשו"ע אורח חיים, וכיון שנזקקים לדעת אותם ביותר הרי הכרח ללמוד לכל לראש עכ"פ הקיצור מהם והוא המודפס בסידורים "דרך החיים" להגאון מליסא וכן יש להשתמש בזה בקיצור שו"ע (בדילוג כמה סימנים שלדיניהם אינם זקוקים כ"כ) וכיו"ב. והלואי שאפילו הלומדים ואותם שהשי"ת שם חלקם להיות יושבי אהל היו לומדים דינים אלו של ברכות הנהנין הפסק בתפלה וכו' וכו' אשר לדאבוננו חסרה במדה גדולה ומבהילה. ויזכהו השי"ת אשר על ידו יתייסד לימוד זה גם במחנו הט' ובהתפשטות גדולה, ומה טוב באופן חיובי על כל המשתתפים בהשיעורים, וה"ה בנוגע לנשים בדיני טהרת המשפחה וכיו"ב.

אף שאינו מזכיר במכתבו שיש לו שיעור בלימוד תורת החסידות, הרי בטוח אני שאינו אלא השמטה בכתיבה אבל לא שחסר ח"ו בפועל. והשי"ת יצליחו לבשר טוב בכל הנ"ל.
