To the Rav, the distinguished Chassid who fears Hashem and devotes himself to communal needs, Rav Sh. Z. Hecht of Chicago,

Greetings and blessing,

I duly received your letters of 16, 17, 19 and 20 Adar Sheni, with what was enclosed therein. I thank you for the good news that a position has been entrusted to the distinguished Chassid who fears Hashem, Rav A. Shur, in the shul*. There he will surely discharge in the best manner the shlichus* entrusted to him, as a shliach* of the Holy One blessed be He. You will consult, on this matter, Likkutei Torah*, at the beginning of parshas Vayikra, commenting on the statement that "shlucho shel adam kemoso*" — when the One Who appoints is Hashem Himself, this is to be understood at the highest level.

I learned with satisfaction that you have been seeking to kasher the kelim* in various places. Doubtless you will also exert yourself to gather ma'os chittin* — the Pesach*-specific tzedakah* destined to provide each one with the means to celebrate the festival — as you did last year, but with greater strength and determination, for one must know elevation, in the realm of holiness, in everything pertaining to Torah and mitzvos*.

I thank you for informing me that Mr. Moshe Neymark has had a daughter. I enclose for you a copy of the response I am sending him. May Hashem grant that you announce to me, always and every day, good tidings of yourself and of those around you.

I enclose for you receipts drawn up in accordance with your instructions, as well as a copy of my letter (no. 2520) addressed to all the women on the occasion of Purim*, which is written in English. It would be good to publish it in the most widespread periodical in Chicago. Its content is, to be sure, close to that of the message that was sent at its time to the women of the Chabad* organization. Nevertheless, one will find some modifications in it.

In fact, it is good to repeat words of encouragement a second and a third time. For the act is essential in daily existence. One must therefore regularly remind and stimulate.

You surely made the most, in the appropriate manner, of the days of Purim* — particularly to act with the youth and children.

It would be good to discuss with the person you mention the summit of spirituality, that is, participation in an appropriate manner in the work of Chabad* in Chicago and its environs.

With my blessing for success in all that has just been said,

מאשר הנני קבלת מכ' מט"ז י"ז י"ט כ' אדר ב' עם המצורפים אליהם ות"[ח] על הבשו"ט אשר הוו"ח אי"א כו' מוהר"ע שי' שאר נתקבל להמשרה בביהכ"נ, ובודאי יפעול שם פעולותיו בתור שלוחו של הקב"ה. ויעויין בלקו"ת פ' ויקרא בתחלתו בענין שלוחו של אדם כמותו כביכול...

נהניתי ממה שמשתדל בענין סידור הכשר כלים במקומות שונים. ובודאי משתדל ג"כ בעניני מעות חטים ע"ד כמו שהי' אשתקד אלא שבתוספת כח ועוז ככל עניני תומ"צ שמעלין בקדש.

ת"[ח] על מ"ש שנולדה בת למר משה שי' ניימארק ומוסג"פ העתק המענה שלי אליו. והשי"ת יזכהו לבשר טוב תכה"י הן בנוגע לעצמו והן בנוגע לסביבתו.

מוסג"פ קבלות מתאים להוראותיו. כן מוסג"פ העתק מכתבי הכללי לנשים בקשר עם ימי הפורים באנגלית, וכדאי הי' להדפיסו במכ"ע המתאים הנפוץ בשיקאגא. אף שתוכנו קרוב לתוכן המעסעדזש שנשלח בעתו לנשי אגו"ח בכל זה יש בו איזה שינוים, והעיקר שכל כמה שחוזרים כופלים ומשלשים מעניני התעוררות הרי כדאי הוא, כי התכלית הוא המעשה בחיי היום יומים, ובמילא צריכים להתעוררות ולהזכרה לעתים תכופות.

בודאי ניצלו ימי הפורים באופן המתאים ובפרט בין הנוער והצעירים.

... כדאי לדבר עמו אודות מעמד רוחני שברוחני, היינו השתתפות בעבודת חב"ד בשיקאגא ובסביבתו באופן המתאים.
