Greetings and blessing,
I am responding to your letter, in which you stress the importance of a commentary on the holy Tanya*. You know the saying of our holy master, that as far as the Tanya* — the Written Law of Chassidus* — is concerned, the greatest among the great will never have an exhaustive understanding of it, while the simplest among the simple will understand at least a little of it.
It follows that everyone must study Tanya*, without waiting for a commentary to be published. How much more so is this the case at the present time, when various works of Chassidus* have been published explaining the concepts that are presented briefly by the Tanya*.
When one studies Chumash* or even Gemara*, one begins with simple concepts, and then, from one year to the next, one deepens one's knowledge. And it is the same for all the parts of the Torah, including its inner teaching — the Tanya*, the Torah Or*, the Likkutei Torah*.
One must therefore not listen to the yetzer hara* who claims that this study is difficult. You have surely seen the Kuntres Limud HaChassidus*, which develops the same explanation.
As you requested, a copy of the holy Tanya* has been sent to you, by separate parcel. You will surely place it at the disposal of your friends, since it is not possible to send one to each of them.

במענה על מכתבו, בו כותב אודות נחיצות הביאור לספר התניא הק'. הנה כבר ידוע פתגם נשיאנו הק' אשר בלימוד התניא שנקרא תורה שבכתב של תורת החסידות, הנה הגדול שבגדולים אינו יכול לירד עד תכליתו, ואפילו הפשוט שבפשוטים יכול להבינו במקצת עכ"פ. ובמילא מובן שכל אחד ואחד צריך ללמדו מבלי לחכות עד שיודפס ביאור וכו'. ובפרט בימינו אלה שכבר נדפסו כמה ספרי חסידות שבהם מבוארים הענינים המובאים בתניא בקיצור.
והעיקר הוא שכמו בלימוד החומש ואפילו הגמרא הרי מתחלה הלימוד הוא בפשטות ומשנה לשנה מוסיפים הבנה ועמקות, הנה כן הוא דרך הלימוד בכל חלקי תוה"ק ובמילא גם בלימוד פנימיות התורה בספר התניא, תורה אור, לקוטי תורה וכו', ואל ישים לב להסתת היצר שלימוד קשה הוא כו' כו', ובטח ראה קונטרס לימוד החסידות שגם משם מובן כנ"ל.
כבקשתו נשלח לו בחבילה בפ"ע ספר התניא הק' ובודאי יזכה בו גם את חבריו כיון שאי אפשר לשלחו לכל אחד בפני עצמו.
