To Jewish women and girls,
to Chabad* women and girls in particular,
may Hashem grant you long life,

Greetings and blessing,

In the days that are coming, linking Purim* to Pesach*, every Jewish woman and girl must reflect on the important role assumed by women in these festivals and on the lesson that emerges from it.

Women are obligated in the mitzvos* specific to the festivals of Purim* and Pesach*, such as the Megillah* or the Haggadah*. For they took part in, and contributed to, the miracles that occurred "bayamim haheim bazman hazeh*" — "in those days, at this time."

Megillas Esther* clearly establishes how Esther revealed the great miracle for all Yisrael*, so that the fast preceding the festival, and the Megillah* itself, bear her name.

The Midrash* relates how the women likewise contributed to the festival of Pesach*, the time of our freedom. During the harsh period of the galus* of Mitzrayim*, the women succeeded in maintaining the morale and the bitachon* in Hashem of their husbands. They raised generations of faithful Yidden* who had the merit of receiving the Torah, as an eternal inheritance, on Har Sinai*, as also our Holy Land, which will be restored and rebuilt by our righteous Moshiach*, very soon and in our days.

The manner in which the women and girls led to these great miracles was different in each of these festivals.

At Pesach*, the influence of the women was essentially directed toward their home, as it is said: "kol kevudah bas melech penimah" — "all the honor of the king's daughter is within." It expressed itself through tznius* and family life.

At Purim*, in accordance with the needs of the moment and with the firm directives of the gedolei Yisrael* and of those who inspire fear of Hashem, a Jewish woman had to intervene by making full use of her influence, on behalf of all the people. She did so with mesirus nefesh*, putting her life in danger to save our people.

The festivals of Purim* and Pesach* are two eternal testimonies, establishing that the Jewish woman, within her home or outside it as soon as the situation demands, offers her fervor and her existence for Torah and mitzvos*, taharas hamishpachah*, and the proper chinuch* of the children — values which constitute the foundations of the perpetuation and of the geulah* of our people.

Jewish women and girls! Imitate the example of the righteous women of every era. For, in large measure, the fate of our people depends upon you and is in your hands.

When one sincerely gives of oneself to realize the divine objectives, the Almighty comes to one's aid, as He did for Esther, and all the difficulties disappear. Thereupon He grants brachos* from Heaven — children, health, and material prosperity, all the physical and spiritual good.

שע״י העבודה המתאימה של החברות והמנהלות יהי׳ זה בהצלחה,

הצלחה לפעול בעצמן ובמשפחה במה שנחוץ על פי ההוראות של נשיאינו

הק׳ זצוקללה״ה נבג״מ זי״ע ,שבדורנו נשיא הדור הוא חמי כ״ק

אדמו״ר ,שיום ההילולא שלו מחר ,זכותו יגן עלינו ,וכן להגדיל את החוג

שלהן ע״י צירוף עוד נשים ,בנות אברהם יצחק ויעקב.

והרי ידוע פתגם רבנו הזקן ,שחסידות אינה ענין של קבוצה נבדלת

בעם ישראל ,אלא חסידות שייכת לכל כלל ישראל ,וכל איש ואשה

שעושה בזה להגשים משאלתו ,לפי הפתגם ,של רבנו הזקן ,הרי הוא

מובטח שהרביים ימשיכו הצלחה בעבודה זו.

מובן שכאשר מצליחים בעבודה הרוחנית ,מביא הדבר ממילא

ברכה והצלחה גם בענינים הגשמיים בנוגע אליהן ולמשפחתן שיחיו,

והשי״ת יצליחן.

בברכה לכל אחת ואחת היא וכל בני ביתה שיחיו במה שנחוץ להן

בגשמיות וברוחניות.
