Greetings and blessings,

I received with shock your letter, in which you inform me of the passing of your mother. May Hashem grant that henceforth you no longer know suffering and pain, but only good — always and every day.

P.S. I thank you for having described to me, even briefly, the most recent farbrengen*. You yourself took part in it. You will do the same[2] in the future. The more details you give, the better.

My letter to the hanhalah of Yeshivas Toras Emes[3] surely arrived at its destination some time ago, and you will please reply to it.

In answer to your question: according to our minhag*, the avel* leads the davening only on days when Mussaf* is not recited. If it is recited, he does not lead Maariv* either. It follows that he does indeed lead the davening on Purim*[4].

You have surely consulted the minhagim of mourning and of the yahrzeit* found in the kuntreisim* of 10 Shevat[5] and 2 Nissan[6] 5708 and 5709[7]. Both are in kuntres no. 88.

במענה על שאלתו, הנה כפי מנהגנו, האבל אינו עובר לפני התיבה רק בימים שיש בהם מוסף (שאז גם בתפלת ערבית אינו יורד לפני התיבה) שבמילא מובן שגם בפורים עובר לפני התיבה ובטח ראה מנהגי האבילות והיארצייט שנדפסו בקונטרסים דיו"ד שבט וב' ניסן תש"ח ותש"ט (בקונטרס פ"ח).
