Greetings and blessings,

You ask me whether you should travel to the Holy Land or instead use the money required for that trip to acquire a Sefer Torah*.

In my view, you should give this sum to a tzedakah* fund. In this way, the larger part of the principal will be preserved, since those who do not pay back a loan they have taken are few. There will thus be lasting merit for the one who makes this gift.

This can be done in two ways. Your contribution can go to a tzedakah fund in the Holy Land, or to any other one which extends its activity both in Eretz Yisrael* and in other countries. If you wish, you may entrust this sum to one of the tzedakah funds managed by my secretariat.

May Hashem grant you, and He will surely grant you, long days and good years. Thus, from time to time, you will be able to make a contribution to that tzedakah fund — from your own funds, or from those you will have collected for that purpose from your children and your friends.

לדעתי צריך הוא לתת את הכסף לקרן גמילות חסדים ,שאז ברוב

המקרים הכסף נשאר בשלימותו)כי אלו שאינם מחזירים גמילות חסד

הם רק אחוז נמוך ביותר( וזה משמש זכות נצחית לנותן הכסף ,ובזה

יתכנו שני אופנים ,לתת את הכסף במיוחד לקרן גמ״ח בארצנו הק׳ או

סתם ,היינו הן בעד אה״ק ת״ו והן בעד חוץ לארץ ,ואם הוא רוצה ,הוא

יכול למסור את הכסף לאחת מקרנות הגמ״ח הנמצאות במזכירות שלי.

יתן לו השי״ת ,ובהחלט יתן לו ,אריכות ימים ושנים טובות שיוכל

מזמן לזמן להוסיף לקרן הגמ״ח הן משלו והן מהכסף שיקח למטרה זו

מילדיו וידידיו שיחיו.
