Greetings and blessings,
You ask me where to rent an apartment. It is clear that it should be near your place of work. Thus, not only will you spare yourself the fatigue connected with travel, but you will also strengthen the influence you exert on your students by living in their proximity — that is plainly evident.
I took note of your study of chassidus* at the end of your letter. It seems, from the way you mention it, that it is not engraved in your mind, that what you seek in this is to discharge your obligation toward others, rather than to satisfy a personal interest.
It is true that Chazal* say that one must learn Torah in any event. Nevertheless, you know that there are several forms of lishmah* learning, of regular learning, and even of shelo lishmah* learning. It is clear, therefore, that you must do everything so that yours reach the highest level you can attain, given your present situation.
It is so for nigleh*, even though it often has a concrete object. How much more is this the case for chassidus, which deals far more clearly with the moral life and the workings of the soul.
May Hashem grant you success in all this. In particular, you will set fixed times for learning nigleh and chassidus, in accordance with your own situation.

בשאלתו אודות מקום שכירות הדירה, הנה מובן שיש להשתדל שהדירה תהי' בסמיכות למקום עבודתו שזהו לא רק מיעוט הטרחה בהליכה ממקום למקום אלא שכשדרים בין המושפעים הרי זה מוסיף חיזוק בההשפעה כמובן.
קראתי בסיום מכתבו אודות לימודו בתורת החסידות וכנראה מסגנון כתבו עד"ז שלימוד הזה אינו אצלו בקביעות בנפש וכנראה שיש בזה יותר מהענין דלצאת ידי חובתו לפני אחרים מאשר התענינות בלימוד גופא, ואף כי ע"פ מרז"ל לעולם ילמוד אדם תורה בכל זה לזה היודע החילוקים - דכמה האופנים שבלימוד לשמה, ללימוד סתם וללימוד כמה האופנים דשלא לשמה, בטח שיש לו להשתדל ולהתאמץ ביותר שיהי' אופן לימודו בדרגא היותר נעלית האפשרית לו במעמדו ההוה, ואם בלימוד הנגלה כך הוא אף שקשור הוא ביותר בענינים הגשמים הרי עאכו"כ שכן הוא בלימוד החסידות שזהו קשור יותר בחיים הרוחניים ומהלך הנפש, והשי"ת יצליחו בכל הנ"ל מתוך קביעות עתים בתורת הנגלה ובתורת החסידות אליבא דנפשי'.
