To the distinguished chassid* who fears Hashem,

Rav Yosef Meir[1],

Greetings and blessings,

I received with pleasure your letter of Monday of Parshas Tetzaveh, in which you briefly describe what has happened to you and your positive accomplishments in the place where you now find yourself, particularly to promote a good chinuch* — a fundamental matter in every place and time, but especially in our era when the darkness is particularly deep.

We have been able to observe that the prophet's lament has been completely realized (Yeshayahu 5:20): 'Hoy ha'omrim lara tov velatov ra' — woe to those who call evil good and good evil. There is here, properly speaking, a situation of danger. It is not only a matter of giving them[2] olam haba*, but also of protecting them in this world. For one can observe corruption and licentiousness, and there is no need to detail what is not to the credit…[3].

May Hashem grant success to all those who take part in this important undertaking. May their efforts be rewarded and may they multiply talmidim*, advancing in the study of Torah and the practice of mitzvos in the best manner. Thus they will have an increased berachah* and success, including in their personal concerns, both material and spiritual.

בנועם קבלתי מכתבו מב' תצוה בו כותב ראשי פרקים מאשר עבר עליו ומפעולותיו הטובות במקומו עתה ובפרט בהנוגע לחינוך הכשר אשר זהו מעיקרי הענינים בכל מקום ובכל זמן ובפרט בזמננו זה חשך כפול ומכופל אשר נתקיים במילואו מאמר הנביא הוי האומרים לרע טוב ולטוב רע (ישעי' ה, כ) שזהו בגדר של פקוח נפשות ולא רק להביאם לחיי העוה"ב אלא גם לשמרם בחיי העולם הזה וכנראה במוחש ההפקרות והפריצות כו' וכו' ואין רשאים להאריך בגנותם של כו'.

והשי"ת יצליח את כל המשתתפים במפעל הכי גדול הנ"ל לראות פרי טוב בעמלם ולהרבות גבולם בתלמידים ותלמידות עושים פרי בלימוד התורה וקיום המצות בהידור שבדרך ממילא ממשיך זה תוספת ברכה והצלחה גם בעניניהם הפרטים הן בגשמיות והן ברוחניות.
