Greetings and blessings,

I received your letter of Wednesday of Parshas Mishpatim. May Hashem bring it to pass that you announce me yet more good news in the future, concerning your communal activities and your personal concerns. You will tell me, above all, that Hashem grants the wishes of your heart and gives you children, health, and material abundance.

I reply to your question regarding the principle[1] stated by my father-in-law the Rebbe, may his merit protect us, according to which one does not make known her condition[2] before the start of the fifth month. The point is its broad dissemination[3]. By contrast, one must tell the doctor. One may also tell close relatives and good friends.

Further, one must conform to the doctor's advice and also ask him — even if he does so spontaneously — to content himself with a superficial examination and not a deep one, if one is needed. For an internal examination is not indispensable for establishing a diagnosis; it serves only to clarify the situation. Consequently, if it can be avoided, it is well that this be so.

Likewise, it would be well to have the mezuzos* of your home checked once again. I await your good news.
