Greetings and blessings,

I reply to your letter of this Tuesday. I hasten to do so since it concerns the taharah* of Jewish women. It is therefore unnecessary to pursue discussions and negotiations. The repairs[1] that command unanimity must be begun at once. Of course, one must also strive to carry out the other repairs in the appropriate manner.

In large measure, everything depends on the way one engages the dialogue[2] on this subject. Often, by showing that it is a self-evident matter — a small accomplishment of reduced dimensions — without any criticism of what was done before, and especially without causing pain to others while showing them respect, it is possible to obtain everything without difficulty, especially when these repairs have already begun.

All parties will then see that there is in no way an attempt to diminish their importance. From then on, their consent will be obtained more easily, including for the other repairs and even for points that have not been raised up to now.

With my blessing for success in all that has just been said,

במענה על מכתבו מיום ג' הנני ממהר לענות עליו כיון שהוא נוגע לטהרת בנות ישראל, אשר אין כדאי להמשיך עוד השקו"ט ודו"ד, ותומ"י להתחיל בהתקונים שעליהם כבר יש הסכמה, ומובן אשר גם בשאר התקונים צריך להשתדל באופן המתאים...

במדה גדולה תלוי באיזה אופן מתחילים הדבור עד"ז אשר לעתים תכופות כשמדברים בפשיטות שזהו דבר פשוט ואינו ענין גדול ואין כאן כלל הוצאת לעז על הראשונים והעיקר שאין מטריחים אחרים ונותנים להם כבוד, אפשר להוציא כל הדברים לפועל מבלי קישויים ובפרט כאשר כבר יתחילו בהתקונים ויווכחו כל הצדדים שאין מכוונים למעט גדולתם וכיו"ב בקל יותר יסכימו גם על שאר התקונים והענינים אף שלא ידברו אודותם עד אז.
