Greetings and blessings,

May Hashem grant you the merit and the success — and likewise the members of your family — that you become aware of being shluchim* of the leader of the generation, my father-in-law the Rebbe, may his merit protect us. You must spread 'the candle is a mitzvah and the Torah is light,' and likewise the luminary of the Torah — that is, the teaching of chassidus*, its practices and its ways.

There is therefore no reason to be affected if you observe opposition in this domain. It is enough for the servant to be like his master. Now, the Baal Shem Tov and the Alter Rebbe also had opposers in every era.

Nevertheless, our generation has a special merit. By the gift of their very persons, the masters we have just cited brought it about that the victory of chassidus* is established and well known. Consequently, anyone who rises up against it and follows the path of Avigdor[1] will at once be publicly ridiculed. His defeat is acquired from the outset.

Sometimes a certain delay may be necessary for this to come about[2]. The reason is solely that the chassidim* leave room for such people[3]. For you know how greatly the Alter Rebbe suffered from having had to take a glass of tea in the home of a misnagged*[4].

May Hashem bring it to pass that there be fulfilled the words of the verse: 'Sins shall cease' — and not those who commit them.

... והשי"ת יזכהו ויצליחו ואת ב"ב שיחיו שידעו אשר שלוחים הם מנשיא הדור כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע להפיץ נר מצוה ותורה אור ומאור שבתורה זוהי תורת החסידות הדרכותי' ומנהגי' ובמילא אין להם להתפעל אם יש מנגדים על זה ודיו לעבד להיות כרבו שהיו מנגדים על הבעש"ט ורבינו הזקן וכ"ק אדמו"ר כל אחד בדורו אלא שבימינו זכינו שעל ידי המסירת נפש של נשיאינו הנ"ל ושבימיהם נתגלה ונתפרסם נצחון החסידות. שבמילא כל הקמים נגדה ובהדרכים של אביגדור וכו' הרי תומ"י נתגלה קלונם ברבים ומפלתם בטוחה מבראש ואם לפעמים מתארך קצת הרי זה אך ורק מפני שהחסידים נותנים להם תפיסת מקום ובמכש"כ וק"ו שידוע עד כמה הצטער רבינו הזקן ממה ששתה כוס תה בבית מנגד...

ויה"ר מהשי"ת שיקויים יתמו חטאים ולא חוטאים.
