Igrot Kodesh · Letter 2424 — Health

B"H,

Brooklyn,
Greetings and blessings,
I received in due course the request for a brachah for your son. It would be useful for me to know whether he was born in the purity defined by our holy Torah — that is, whether his mother, at that period, observed the laws of taharas hamishpachah* and went to the mikvah*.
If this is not the case, chas veshalom*, we must know it and intervene in the appropriate manner to repair this state of affairs, at least insofar as is possible. A health problem is at issue here, and one must therefore know the truth as it is.
When one wishes to lessen the gravity of a certain situation, one must first cause its cause to disappear and act accordingly.
May Hashem help you so that you may announce good news to me concerning all this.
With my blessing,
For the Rebbe shlita*,
the secretary,
