To those who carry out a sacred mission, that of dispensing

a good education and strengthening the Talmud Torah of

London, and at their head, to the distinguished chassidim* who

fear Hashem, Rav Shlomo Perrin, Rav Meir Hurkov,

Rav Yaakov Yosef Hurkov, Rav Sholom DovBer Raskin,

and Rav Shmuel Liberov, may Hashem grant you long life,

Greetings and abundant blessings,

I have learned, through the rav, distinguished chassid* who fears Hashem and devotes himself to communal needs, Rav Ben Tzion Shemtov, emissary of the Sages, that you have committed yourselves to direct and to finance the Talmud Torah* he founded in London.

No doubt your activity has already begun in concrete fashion. You will therefore not maintain the Talmud Torah* in its current state. On the contrary, you will strive to develop it, to broaden it, quantitatively and therefore also qualitatively. Hashem will grant you success, and you will form the channels through which the hearts of the sons and daughters of Yisrael are drawn closer to our Father in Heaven, by dispensing an education in conformity with the tradition of Yisrael.

The importance of this mitzvah*[1] will enable each of you and the members of your family to obtain the fulfillment of needs, material and spiritual. In accordance with the explanation[2] of the Alter Rebbe*, author of the Shulchan Aruch* and of Tanya*, on the verse: "Tzedakah* uplifts a nation" — your commitment, emanating from a pure heart, to give tzedakah* for this cause will bring you elevation in all the domains alluded to by the term "nation," as the beginning of Torah Or explains.

With my blessing for success in your sacred mission, and awaiting your good news,

נהניתי לקבל בשורה טובה מהרה"ח הוו"ח אי"א נו"נ עוסק בצ"צ כו' מוה"ר בן ציון שי' שם טוב שד"ר אשר לקחו על עצמם הנהלת וכלכלת הת"ת בעיר לונדון שנתייסדו ע"י הנ"ל, ובודאי כבר נגשו לפעולות ממשיות ולא יסתפקו בהחזקת הת"ת כמו שהם עתה אלא ישתדלו בהגדלתם והתפתחותם בכמות ובמילא גם באיכות, וחפץ ד' בידם יצליח להיות צנורות לקרב לבם של בני ובנות ישראל לאבינו שבשמים על ידי חינוך ברוח ישראל סבא.

וגדולה זכות מצוה זו להמשיך לכל אחד ואחד מהם לו ולב"ב שיחיו המצטרך להם בגשמיות וברוחניות וע"פ ביאור רבינו הזקן בעל השו"ע והתניא במה שנאמר צדקה תרומם גוי, הנה התנדבות לבם הטהור בצדקה בהנ"ל תרומם עניניהם בכל הענינים המרומזים בתיבת גוי וכמבואר בתורה אור בתחלתו.
