To the rav, distinguished chassid* who fears Hashem

and devotes himself to communal needs,

Rav Ben Tzion[1], emissary of the Sages,

Greetings and blessings,

I have duly received your letters of 26 Teves and 4 Shevat. I am surprised to observe discouragement in the way it is written. For some look negatively upon the achievements of Lubavitch and its conduct.

For it was already so in the time of Moshe Rabbeinu*, toward whom all eyes likewise converged. He who acts with integrity to fulfill his role and bring to fruition the mission entrusted to him — that of illuminating his surroundings — will, in the end, be victorious.

My father-in-law, the Rebbe, explains in one of his sichos* that all submit to the truth. Certainly, making opposition disappear can take time. Nevertheless, one must thank Hashem in observing that the veils and obstacles vanish. The same is therefore so also for the oppositions and struggles against Chabad.

Thoughts and even words are oriented in another direction; but let the lot deserved by those who hold them be theirs. As for ourselves, we are "workers of the day," and as the Tzemach Tzedek* says[2], our purpose is to illuminate. We therefore have no time to fight. We must rebuild what has been destroyed.

With my blessing for success in your sacred mission, in good health, for you, your wife, and all the members of your family,

מאשר הנני קבלת מכתביו מכ"ו טבת וד' שבט, ולפלא שכנראה מרוח מכתבו נפל ברוחו על שישנם כאלו הרומזים בעין לא טובה על פעולות ליובאוויטש והנהגתה, שהרי הי' כזה עוד מימות משה רבינו שהביטו אחריו וכו' וההולך תום למלאות תפקידו ושליחותו להאיר את סביבתו, הנה סו"ס דידי' נצח, וכמבואר בשיחת כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר, אז פאר דעם אמת ווערען אלע בטל, ומה שלוקח זמן עד שיתבטלו, הנה עכ"פ יש לנו להודות להשי"ת אשר ההעלמות וההסתרים נחלשו ובמילא נחלשו גם ההפרעות והמלחמות נגד חב"ד. ומה שבלבם או גם בדבורם מדברים אחרת, הרי יהי' להם אשר להם, ואנן פועלי דיממא אנן וכפתגם הצ"צ, מאכען ליכטיק, ובמילא אין פנאי למלחמות כי צריך לבנות הנהרסות...

בברכת הצלחה בעבודתו בקדש מתוך בריאות הנכונה שלו של זגותו וכל ב"ב שיחיו.
