and devotes himself to communal needs,

Greetings and blessings,

A) I would first like to thank you for the manuscripts of chassidus* you have sent me. I express my great appreciation for the past, and I ask you to continue sending me these precious treasures in the future, if you have the possibility.

Indeed, I make use of what I receive also for publications. There is therefore here the merit of the many.

B) A Tanya* printed here was sent to you by separate mailing. At the end of it is an index [2]. Various people have told me that you possess the tradition of chassidim* [3] and your own, concerning the Tanya*. I would therefore be particularly grateful to you if you could have all this reproduced by those at your service. Even if the notes have already been published, there will likely be, when the time comes, addenda and additions.

Obviously, if you know the name of the author of the commentaries in your possession or of the one who reports them, you will not fail to include this detail, for you know how much my father-in-law, the Rebbe, whose merit will protect us, insisted that the details also be known. The same applies in this case, including when doubt remains about a teaching.

לכל לראש הנני בזה בת"ח על הביכלעך חסידות ששלח לי, ת"ח ת"ח על העבר ובקשה גם על להבא אם יהי' ביד כת"ר שי' לכבד אותי בהני מילי מעלייתא ובפרט שהרי סוכ"ס הנני משתמש בהמתקבל לידי גם בהנוגע לענינים הנדפסים ובמילא ה"ז ג"כ ענין של זכות הרבים.

ב) בחבילה בפ"ע נשלח לו מכאן התניא שהו"ל כאן, ובסופו מפתח הענינים וכו' וכיון שסיפרו לי מכמה צדדים שיש ביד כת"ר מסורת חסידים וכן גם משל עצמו בהנוגע לתניא, הנה א"ת אהי' לו אם יעתיק ע"י עושי רצונו את כל הנ"ל, כי אף שכבר הו"ל את הערות וכו', הרי בודאי במשך הזמן יהי' עוד מילואים ותוספת וכו'. מובן מעצמו שבאם השמועות והפירושים שבידו יודע גם שם המספר והמפרש, הרי ידוע עד כמה דקדק כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע שיודיעו הדברים לפרטיהם, וה"ה גם בנדון דידן וכן אפי' במקום שיש ספיקא דשמעתתא...
