Greetings and blessings,
You write to me about your move. I am astonished at the conduct of chassidim*. In the country where you previously lived, every practice connected to Torah* and mitzvos* required mesirus nefesh* and exposed one to actual danger. Despite this, one did not retreat; one went forward with all necessary fervor.
At present, you find yourself in a place where all the veils have disappeared. Moreover, one can consider that, in a certain way, the fulfillment of Torah* and mitzvos* is asked, encouraged, even if all the help that would have been necessary is not yet given. And yet, each one seeks, with the greatest determination, to settle himself under his personal vine, his personal fig tree, leaving aside all other elements.

...בנוגע לשאלתו אודות העתקתו... הנה לפלא על אנ"ש שי' אשר בהיותם במדינתם לפנים, שכל ענין של תורה ומצוה הי' קשור במס"נ וסכנות בפועל, ר"ל, בכ"ז לא נסוגו אחור ואדרבה עוד הלכו לפנים במרץ המתאים, ועתה כשבאו למקום אשר אין כל העלמות וכו' ובמדה ידועה י"ל שאדרבה עוד דורשים ומשבחים בעד עבודה בתורה ומצוה (אף שעדיין לא מסייעים כדבעי) הרי כאו"א מחפש לעצמו במרץ הכי גדול מצב שיוכל להיות יושב תחת גפנו הפרטי ותאנתו הפרטית מבלי להתחשב עם כל הענינים...
