To the distinguished chassid* who fears Hashem,
Rav Tzvi [1],
Greetings and blessings,
I was pleased to learn that you took part in the evening organized by the N'shei uBnos Chabad* association in Paris, where you delivered words of encouragement which, according to what was written to me, touched those who heard them.
It is surely unnecessary to point out to someone like yourself the usefulness of such an action, particularly when it concerns a Chanukah* evening organized by women, who were targeted by the persecutions [2], as the Rambam* explains at the beginning of his laws of Chanukah*. Likewise our Sages emphasize in the Gemara* that "they too were part of the miracle."
From time immemorial, women have been the mistresses of the home, and young girls must therefore prepare themselves to assume this mission. How much more so in the present, particularly dark era. Such activity is all the more important since the present tendency is to destroy and to make completely disappear that which is the very foundation of our eternal edifice.
In the future, you will surely strive to maintain this activity in the proper manner. Hashem will grant you success.

נהניתי לקבל ידיעה שהשתתף בהנשף אשר נערך ע"י אגודת נשי ובנות חב"ד בפאריז ונאם לפניהם דברי התעוררות, וכמו שכותבים ל[י] פעלו על השומעות.
ובודאי לדכוותי' למותר להאריך בתועלת הדבר, ובפרט כשהמדובר בנשף חנוכה הנערך ע"י נשים שעליהן היתה הגזירה כמו שכותב הרמב"ם ריש הלכות חנוכה, ומרומז בגמרא במרז"ל, אף הן היו באותו הנס.
ואם בכל זמן היתה האשה עקרת הבית ובמילא העלמה והנערה צריכים היו להכינן לתפקיד גדול זה, הרי על אחת כמה וכמה בדורנו חשוך זה אשר הנחיצות בהנ"ל גדלה כמה פעמים ככה, ובפרט שרוחות אין מצויות מנשבות בעולם ורוצים להרוס ולערות ע[ד] היסוד את בניננו הנצחי. ובודאי גם על להבא ישתדל בכיוון זה באופן המתאים והשי"ת יצליחו.
