To the Rav, distinguished chassid* who fears Hashem and devotes himself to communal needs,

Rav Shlomo[1],

Greetings and blessings,

A) I duly received your letters of the 5th and 14th of Sivan, with their enclosures.

B) It would be good to publish the Lag BaOmer* sichah[2]* as soon as possible and to disseminate it among the talmidim* whom it can concern. True, it deals with the period of the Omer* and the festival of Shavuos*, but the lesson that emerges from it applies, of course, throughout the entire year.

Moreover, Rav M. Lipsker[3] is asking for words of encouragement for the talmidim*. Perhaps it would be good to print a certain number of copies on special paper and with a fine binding, in order to give them, as prizes, to the best talmidim*.

This will be in addition to your usual publications, which will be distributed as customary.

C) You raise the inner aspect of matters and the way to direct the talmidim*. Do not, therefore, become discouraged, chas veshalom*. No one can know what is going on in the depths of the heart of a Jewish man or woman. Sometimes it seems that great efforts and exertion bring only limited fruits, but it is impossible to determine what will be in the near future and, all the more so, in the distant future. And it is impossible to measure how much harm has been averted thanks to such an education. It is surely unnecessary to say more.

Moreover, in our generation, one has been able, in this way, to witness miracles, with our physical eyes. A single seed that was planted gave rise to great and beautiful plants. If you observe your talmidim* as is fitting, you will be able to verify that it is the same with them.

I await good news from you and I extend to you my brachah* for success in your communal and personal concerns,

נתקבלו מכתביו מה' וי"ד סיון עם המצורפים אליהם.

ב) הר"ד דל"ג בעומר, לכאורה כדאי להדפיסה בהקדם ביותר ולהפיצה בין הת' השייכים לזה. כי אף שהמדובר שם הוא בנוגע לימי הספירה וחה"ש, אבל המוסר השכל מזה נוגע לכל השנה כולה כמובן. ובפרט שגם הרה"ח מהר"מ שי' ליפסקר תובע איזה דברי התעוררות בשביל התלמידים, ואפשר שכדאי שידפיסו מספר טופסים מזה על נייר מיוחד ובכריכה מיוחדה שתנתן בתור פרס לאלו הת' המצטיינים נוסף על הנדפס באופן הרגיל שיפיצו באופנים הרגילים...

ד) מ"ש אודות פנימיות הענינים והדרכת התלמידים, הנה אל יפול ח"ו ברוחו, כי אי אפשר לשער הנעשה בלב פנימה של בן ובת ישראל, ואף שלפעמים נדמה שיגיעה ועמל רב מביאים פירות מועטים, אי אפשר לדעת מה שיהי' בעתיד הקרוב ומי יאמר בעתיד הרחוק. ומובן שאי אפשר לדעת כלל מה שמנעו בענינים דסו"מ ע"י חינוך והדרכה זו. והאריכות בזה אך למותר. ובפרט שבדורנו זה ראו בזה נפלאות גם בעיני בשר במוחש, איך שע"י גרעין קטן אחד שזרעו, נצמח מזה ענינים גדולים ונפלאים, ובהסתכלות המתאימה הנה בודאי בין מושפעיו יראה כזה...
