By the grace of Hashem,

I greet you and bless you,

You ask me whether you should come here in order to continue your studies in our yeshivah*. This is indeed a good initiative. Our Sages say: "Exile yourself to a place of Torah." If it is difficult for you to come here, you shall strive to go to the Yeshivas Lubavitch of Lod, in our Holy Land.

May Hashem grant you success in the study of nigleh* and Chassidus*, may He grant that you have yiras Shamayim*, be a chassid* and a scholar, as our Sages emphasize, also regarding nigleh*. It is said, indeed, that "emunah* in your times brings forth deliverance, confers chochmah* and binah*." Nevertheless, when is this so? Solely when "yiras Hashem* is his treasure," a "salty land," in the expression of Rashi*, and Likkutei Torah* explains, at the end of Parshas Vayikra, that within our Torah itself, salt corresponds to the study of penimiyus haTorah*. In our day, this is revealed by Chassidus*.

Concerning the organization of your studies, you will consult your teacher and the director of your yeshivah*.

With my brachah* to study Torah with yiras Shamayim* and fruitfully.

N.B.: You convey to me the request of one who desires to draw closer young men of a certain movement, and you ask me whether it is possible to do so.

Everything depends, in fact, on which young men are involved. If they are to the left of this movement, his action is justified and he should intensify it. By contrast, if they are to its right, that is, if their religious practice is more intense, it is quite clear that one must continually know elevation in everything that pertains to Torah, mitzvos*, and especially yiras Shamayim*.

Indeed, Torah and mitzvos* are the chochmah* and the will of Hashem, which have no limit. One must therefore know elevation in this matter, including from the right, and our Sages say also, in nigleh*, that "talmidei chachamim* know no rest, neither in this world nor in the next."

I enclose an excerpt of the sichah* of the Shabbos* during which the month of Sivan was blessed. It would be good to disseminate it in the widest circles. Indeed, the Torah is given each day, and it is therefore possible to receive it daily.

...ובמענה על שאלתו אם ישתדל לנסוע לכאן ללמוד פה בישיבתינו הנה נכון הדבר וכידוע פסק רז"ל הוי גולה למקום תורה. ואם יש קישויים בנסיעה לכאן, יש להשתדל אודות הנסיעה לישיבת תומכי תמימים בלוד באה"ק ת"ו. והשי"ת יצליחו בלימוד תורת הנגלה ותורת החסידות ולהיות ירא שמים חסיד ולמדן, וכפסק רז"ל גם בתורת הנגלה, שבאיזה אופן יש קיום לאמונת עתיך חוסן ישועות חכמה ודעת הוא דוקא עי"ז שיראת ד' היא אוצרו, ארץ מלחה כפירוש רש"י וכמבואר בלקוטי תורה סוף פרשה ויקרא ענין המלח בתורתנו הק' שהוא לימוד פנימיות התורה אשר בדורנו זה נתגלה בתורת החסידות.

הנה בזה נוגע מאיזה "צד" יקח האברכים, שאם הם נמצאים משמאל ל... הרי יישר חילו ויוסיף אומץ בזה, ובלבד שלא יבלבלם בעניני פוליטיק, ואם הם מימין ל... היינו שהם דתיים יותר, הרי מובן שבתורה ומצות ובפרט ביראת שמים הרי זה הולך למעלה מעלה עד אין קץ (כיון שזהו חכמתו ורצונו של הקב"ה, שהוא אין סוף), ובמילא יש לעלות גם בזה הלוך ונסוע הימין הנגבה וכפסק רז"ל גם בתורת הנגלה שתלמידי חכמים אין להם מנוחה לא בעוה"ז ולא בעוה"ב.
