I greet you and bless you,

I am responding to your letter, in which you ask my feeling about your departure from France[1]. The question of the wise man is, in itself, half the answer, and indeed, you yourself say in this letter that you are aware of my position concerning these moves.

One point must, nevertheless, be added. I consider that, with a few exceptions, these displacements are not desirable, not only for those who undertake a sacred mission within the framework of the yeshivah* or elsewhere, but also for the other Chassidim*.

My motivation is not solely spiritual. It is also material. You surely know that the Chassidim*, desirous of settling and earning a living, here as in Canada, are confronted with difficulties and complications. I am certain that they describe[2] the situation to you as it is, themselves thereby calling into question the appropriateness of their settling here. You should understand what I mean.

I extend to you my brachah* for success in your sacred mission, which will reveal increased brachah* and success for the state of health of your wife, of all the members of your family, and, in general, for all your personal concerns.

With my brachah* to receive the Torah b'simchah u'vipnimiyus*,

N.B.: I enclose the kuntres* published on the occasion of the festival of the giving of the Torah, which is approaching. No doubt you will make its content available to as many as possible, in the appropriate manner.

במענה על מכתבו, בו שואל חוות דעתי בענין העתקה מצרפת. ושאלת חכם חצי תשובה, וכמו שמזכיר במכתבו, שידוע לו חוו"ד בענין העתקה. אלא שיש עוד להוסיף בזה, שחוו"ד זו שאין כדאי להעתיק (מלבד במקרים בודדים), הנה לא רק בנוגע לאלו העוסקים בעבודת הקדש, אם בתו"ת או במקצוע אחר, אלא גם לסתם אנ"ש, ולא רק מפני הרוחניות, אלא גם מפני הגשמיות, וכאשר בטח ידוע להם מהקישויים וההרפתקאות שיש לאנ"ש שי' כאן ובקנדה, בעניני הסתדרות ומקור לפרנסה, אשר בטחוני שהם כותבים לכם המצב כמו שהוא, אף שעי"ז יתברר שספק אם טוב עשו בהעתקה לכאן וד"ל.

בברכה להצלחה בעבודתו בקדש, ואשר במילא ימשיך זה תוספת ברכה והצלחה בבריאות זוגתו תחי' וכל ב"ב שיחיו ובכל עניניו הפרטים בכלל.
