To the great Rav, distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem,

of an illustrious family, Rav Matisyahu Yechezkel[1],

I greet you and bless you,

I have duly received your letter of 27 Nissan, mentioning the purchase of a Sefer Torah*. I enclose a copy of a letter on this subject from my father-in-law the Rebbe, may his merit shield us.

You will find in this copy the answer to the question you raise. According to the words of my father-in-law the Rebbe, the will and the financial capacity are two traits of character of men. You write to me that you need help, and I do not know what form this should take. If sending you, from time to time, prepaid postage vouchers is useful to you, I shall endeavor to do so, without making it a vow. You will kindly specify to me what is needed.

You also ask me about the printing of Tanya*. This is now being done here. A list of errata and an index are also included. I am currently preparing this new edition[2], which will also include references and a brief commentary. Nevertheless, time does not permit me to devote myself to it, and its completion is therefore delayed.

In accordance with your request, I shall mention your name, at an opportune moment, near the tziyun* of my father-in-law the Rebbe, may his merit shield us, that you may obtain the satisfaction of your needs, as well as the members of your family.

I have not, for the moment, received your seforim*.

נתקבל מכתבו מכ"ז למסב"י, ומ"ש שם אודות קניית ס"ת, ומצרף לזה העתק מכתב כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע בענין זה.

הנה בהעתק זה גופא ימצא המענה על שאלתו, ובלשון כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר, הרצון והיכולת הכספי שתי מדות הנה במדות בני אדם. איני יודע אופן העזרה לזה שכותב אודותו במכתבו שזקוק לה, ואם שלוח סקריפ מזמן לזמן יוכל לעזור להנ"ל, אשתדל בל"נ לסדר הדבר, ומטובו להודיעני אודות זה.

בשאלתו בענין הדפסת ספר התניא, הנה מדפיסים אותו פה עתה, בתוספת לוח התיקון, מפתח ענינים וכו', ונמצא אני באמצע ההכנה להוצאה חדשה של התניא בצירוף מראה מקומות, פירוש קצר כו' אלא שאין הזמן מרשה לברך על המוגמר, ולכן מתארך הדבר.

כבקשתו אזכירהו בעת רצון כשאהי' על הציון הק' של כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע להמצטרך לו ולכל ב"ב שיחיו.

ספריו, לע"ע, לא נתקבלו.
