To the directors of Yeshivas Lubavitch of Lod,

may Hashem grant you long life,

I greet you and bless you,

A) I have duly received your letters of 27 Nissan and 6 Iyar, with what was enclosed. Likewise, I received the results[1] in a separate dispatch.

B) I hope that everything is being done to accelerate the construction of the trade school, all the more so since, as I wrote to you, Dr. Shapiro is currently visiting the Holy Land and others are complaining that one is not taking advantage of this opportune moment, since at the beginning of the winter a substantial subsidy was promised for this school.

C) You explain to me the reasons why several talmidim* did not take the examinations. If it is a matter of health, this is only temporary. As for those who are studying shechitah*, there is no reason why this activity should prevent checking their knowledge of nigleh* and Chassidus*. For the other talmidim* as well, a way must be found so that they are not discredited[2], since this information[3] concerns only me.

The examiners shall therefore not make these results public. Thus, those who have wished not to take these examinations until now will be able to do so in the future.

מאשר הנני קבלת מכתביהם מכ"ז ניסן, ו' אייר עם המצורפים אליהם. כן נתקבל התרשים בחבילה בפ"ע.

ב) תקותי שמזדרזים ככל האפשרי, בענין בניני הבי"ס למלאכה, ובפרט שכמו שכתבתי, הרי הד"ר שפירא מבקר עתה באה"ק ת"ו, וגם אחרים מתאוננים, שמחמיצים את שעת הכושר מה שקצבו בתחלת החורף סכום נכון לבית ספר זה.

ג) מה שכותבים הסיבות דהעדר הבחינות של כו"כ תלמידים הנה אלו מהם שלא נבחנו עדיין מצד הבריאות, הרי בודאי הסיבה עוברת, וכן גם אלו שמתלמדים מלאכת השו"ב, לכאורה, אין זה סיבה שאינם רוצים שידעו כשרונם וידיעתם בתורת הנגלה והחסידות, ובודאי גם בהשאר - יש למצוא עצה שלא יהי' בזה כל ענין של מיעוט הדמות שלהם ח"ו, כיון שאין הידיעות אלא בשבילי. וגם הבוחנים הרי בודאי, לא יפרסמו את התוצאות כלל וכלל, שבמילא יתן זה האפשריות להבחן גם לאלו שהשתמטו עצמם מזה עד עתה...
