Greetings and blessings,

I duly received your letter of 4 Nissan, with the request for blessing that was enclosed and which I will read, without making it a vow, near the holy ohel* of my father-in-law, the Rebbe*, whose merit will protect us.

You ask me about the tefillin* of Rabbeinu Tam. In my view, you should not yet put them on. In some time, you will write to me again on this subject. Meanwhile, you will redouble your fervor in the study of "the words of the living Lrd,"[1] Various texts establish a connection between these and the tefillin* of Rabbeinu Tam, which, according to Kabbalah*, are linked to the attribute of intellectual discovery, Chochmah*.

You no doubt give a few coins to tzedakah* before tefillah*, each weekday, and you maintain the three well-known studies that concern everyone, instituted by my father-in-law, the Rebbe*, on Chumash*, Tehillim*, and Tanya*. Likewise, you have surely adopted the practice instituted by Ezra.[2]

May Hashem* grant that you study the Torah* with yiras Shamayim*, undisturbed and without supposed obstacles, which have no purpose other than to strengthen the reward[3] and the value of what is accomplished.

With my blessing for a kosher* and joyous Pesach* festival, and for studying the Torah* with yiras Shamayim*,

נתקבל מכתבו מד' ניסן עם הפ"נ המוסגר בו, אשר אקראהו בל"נ על הציון הק' של כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע.

בשאלתו בענין תפילין דר"ת, הנה לע"ע לדעתי עדיין לא יניחם, ובעוד איזה זמן בטח יבוא עמדי בכתובים עוד הפעם אודות זה, ועד אז הנה יוסיף אומץ בלימוד תורת הדא"ח שע"פ המבואר בכ"מ הנה זה מהשייך לתפילין דר"ת שע"פ המבואר בספרי קבלה, זהו ענין מוחין דאבא.

בטח נותן לצדקה בכל יום מימות החול איזה פרוטות קודם התפלה ושומר שלשת השיעורים השוים לכל נפש מתקנת כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר בחומש תהלים ותניא הידועים ופשיטא אשר נזהר בטבילת עזרא, והשי"ת יזכהו לתלמוד תורה ביראת שמים ומבלי מפריעים ומונעים המדומיים שאינם באים אלא להגדיל את השכר והחביבות של הענין.
